Pulled bullets

Hi There
Looking for some info on resizing necks on primed cases that I have pulled bullets from. I will pull the decapping pin. But one question is do I have to lube these cases just to resize the neck area? any other tips before I start this process?
Thanks

Are you neck sizing or FL sizing?

Short answer - yes.

cases

FL die but will set up to just neck size. I was thinking it would still engage the case and thus need lube.
Thanks

I would lube to be safe. Be careful not to get any inside the case where it could get on the primer.

Set up your die as you normally would.

If you are backing the die off so it does not contact the body of the case but only the neck you will not need to lube.

Most of the time you can pull bullets and re-seat a new one without neck sizing the brass. We used to do it all the time with Hard Ball military ammo, replacing the FMJ with a 150 grain SP. Try a couple, as long as they don't move or spin with finger pressure you are good to go. If they are loose, then re-size the neck only, no lube required as long as you are just doing the neck.

That is where the dry graphite/mica lube comes in handy, such as the Forster or Lyman kits. You will definitely notice a difference.
