season so far

We have taken 16 martin, 4 fisher, 6 coyotes, 14 weasels and have taken tally of the squirrels yet. Have seen a lot of lynx tracks but have not been able to catch any yet.

Re: season so far

we are up to 3 dozen marten, 2 lynx, 1 fisher, 8 weasel, too many squirrels to count, 1 fox and a yote shot from my deck.
Wolves have made a pass through the bait stations so hopefully we will hang some up next time around. Need snow badly - a couple feet would go a long way toward helping us at the bait stations & sets.

Re: season so far

Checked today but only about 60% of the line as the roads are blocked with snow drifts and the graders have not hit them yet. Managed to get 2 Marten and 1 weasel. Had a lynx walk right past a cubby? Oh well I sweetened things up a bit so we'll get him his next time through.

Re: Wolves

20 coyotes, 3 fox and 3 badgers.....worst year I've ever had, guess I need to buy a sled to get into the out of the way places.

What part of the province are you guys getting the marten in, north or west ??

Re: Wolves

Drake, I'll see what I can do with the pics. I hope to start snaring wolves this weekend and take out as many as we can. I'm told a guy doesn't want to skin to many though!

Re: Wolves

Hey guys!

Listen, its been 15 years since I've strung a line and I miss it almost every day. It seems that the cats are elusive to you. I am currentlly an arborist in Calgary and have learned that a shrub called Honeysuckell is addictive to cats. I have three cats at home that are 'ho-hum" to cat-nip but get absolutly stoned on honeysuckell (so does the dog but she's a different story!)

After learning this, I began observing the various species of Honeysuckell shrubs in Calgary. Almost 75-90% of their trunks were affected by loose cats. This may make an effective lure because it is like crack cocaine for cats! Good luck and let me know!
