What's in a name? Animal nicknames.
 
What do you call these critters we pursue.... I know of "Bush pig" for black bear. "Swamp Donkey" for moosey. I have a few choice words for whitetail but none that would be considered a nickname. Any other good ones out there?

Cream butt for mulies
Flag tail for whitetail
Grass rats for Richardson ground squirrels
Mole for pocket gophers
Annoying pain in the back side stupid white bird, for snow geese(especially if they fail to decoy)
Green head for a male mallard
Slough shark, snot rocket, jack, for northern pike.

crow - egg sucker
skunk - stink pup
coyote - yapper
Mule deer - big ears
Whitetail - bonehead or jerky
Elk - hairy bush ghost
Moose - bullwinkle (origins of this nickname are from an old comic book character)
Wolverine - skunk bear or quickhatch(Cree name, kwĭkkwâhaketsh).
Timber wolf - witches horse
Cougar - sneaker or deer tiger
Moth- candle fly
Falcons - duck busters
Great horned owl or great grey owl - flying lynx
Earthworm/dew worm - dirt snake
Beaver - stick pig.
Sea Gull - Sh*t hawk

Proper name for a nearby big black bear or grizzly bear is "Ma'am" or "Sir."

I call my Lab Duke - Turdface quite a bit. Mostly because he tries to eat poop if we aren't looking.
