Check out the Fishin Holes website. They have an update on their on how the trout lakes have been. In general, trout has been slow... got 4 a few days ago and they hit hard but about 20 or so came in on the flasher and turned away. Gold, was the key color....

I'm headed out as well next Sunday, hoping to try a lake for trout.

just checked the fishinghole website, pretty useless report since it was last updated Dec 9th - but I'll keep checking.

If your going for trout I suggest getting some worms. Most Mowhawk gas stations sell them....they seem to be the bait of choice that I have found works well. Double hook the worm on a snelled hook with two slip shot weights 18" higher than the hook, the movement of the worms negate the need to jig.....just set it and....you know the rest.
good luck I hope this helps
