Monster Walleye

Here is a picture of a supposed 23lb Walleye caught on Devils lake. It looks a lot suspicious to me. All the big Walleye pics I see are of fat hogs. This one is long like a big pike. If this was a true pic do you not think it would be MUCH heavier than 23lbs? Just a wierd looking pic. What do you guys think?

CNR 12-12-2007 09:14 AM

23lbs....or 43lbs???

chuck0039 12-12-2007 09:17 AM

if that is 23 lbs walleye is true would that be a new record??? we should be hearing some hype on this right????

Walleye

I don't know. I fished devils lake A few times and found it to be unproductive. As far as I'm concerned I smell some thing and it aint fresh bread

Wasnt that picture floating around last year as well? I am sure i did see that somewhere on the net.

This picture here is of a 12 to 14 poinder Liz caught at Pigeon. We never did weigh it or measure it but it is the biggest Wally i have ever seen. Ive got pretty good sized hands and i couldnt grab this fish behind the ears to take the hook out.

BloodHound70 12-12-2007 09:42 AM

I figured someone would have seen that pic before. It just isn't what a big walleye looks like. It doesn't have a big head or thick shoulders. It looks like a big pike with the skin of a Walleye. I call BS:D

Penner 12-12-2007 09:53 AM

It's clearly a fake. But nice work none the less.

knight hunter 12-12-2007 10:25 AM

out of curosity, where is Devil's lake?

Waxy 12-12-2007 10:35 AM

I wrote that pic off as a fake before I even clicked on it to see it full size.

There is NO WAY that's real.

Waxy

schimmel 12-12-2007 10:53 AM

Devil's lake is in North Dakota. I'd like to go there some time. Suppose to be great jumbo perch fishing through the ice.

gunslinger 12-12-2007 10:54 AM

nope

i dont beleive its real either, i own a house on tobin lake by nipawin sask and the record come through the ice there two years ago by a local fella, i had a picture of it but i cant find it. throught the ice it was a buty. heres one mooma caught out our front door.http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...bin2004030.jpg

BloodHound70 12-12-2007 11:31 AM

I am so very envious Gunslinger. I have always wanted to fish Tobin but cant see it happening anytime soon. Your one lucky guy.
The ice fish thing got me to. What kind of hole would you need for that?? I sure get a kick out of guys who believe these pics, saying that they know a guy who knows the guy who caught it......uh huh....

gunslinger 12-12-2007 11:48 AM

albertadave 12-12-2007 02:07 PM

It's so obvious you guys. It's the leprechaun's brother. He caught that fish the day before and let freeze over night for the pictures. Thats why it looks the way it does.

Mudder Man 12-12-2007 02:16 PM

That is one hoggggg of a pike indeed. Certainly see why we need the 10 inch ice auger's.

if they were that big in a lake like, "Pigeon", id never swim in there again!! those things chase minnows to thr surface already they are so hungry:D

Winch101 12-12-2007 04:30 PM

World Record Walleye

FYI , I think the world record walleye is out of Greers Ferry , Arkansas
25 or 26 lbs. That photo has been around for 3 yrs.
Devils lake is south and east of Grand Forks N.D. USA. a slough
at best does give up the odd good walleye ...I think its 2.3 lbs...
They are going to pump sunfish, pumpkin seeds ,crappie and various other sundry thrash fish into the red river , the greatest walleye
fishery in the whole free world ( ask BB aka NDN ) .

Buck Krazy 12-12-2007 05:26 PM

30lb pike slide through an 8" hole no problem. 10" holes are nice though!!

tchow 12-12-2007 07:41 PM

Here's the site for the Tobin Lake Record Eye..... As for the photo. Nice try.
