*Pictures of Favorite 2012 Critters

:D I missed the 2012 fall bowhunting season on AO and dont see many pictures at all on the site as awesome as it is...

I know many dont want the wolf packs after them lol..I posted a pictures of a laker I got thru the ice on the fishing threads and got tore apart because the guy taking the picture had his fish on the ice also...[limit one]

But the Archery threads are very mild compared to other thread category's here lol..

But I would really like to see some critter pictures takin with the bow...they dont have to be book, wall hangers or world records lol...
just some of your favorites...

I did well this year...first on draws..Got moose draw in my home turf..3Yrs...then I got the elk draw finally after 9 years...thing is I didnt get a chance to use it as elk is general here for archery and got lucky with my bow..

I spend many day's and hours on foot and had a lot of fun...these are some of them

Try not to comment if its negitive and try to respect others ...

I will start these are some of mine

Love to rabbit hunt and love them bunny burgers...
This was early last year...fun at its best

Looks like a great season. I did not get out as much as I wanted in 2012. Tag soup this year. SHould have filled some doe tag's but passed on the opportunity kicking myself for that. Looking forward to 2013 will be out scouting as soon as the snow melts.

Bonescreek 03-13-2013 01:34 PM

Hey Neil, how you doin?

I'm in south central VA. US. our spring turkey season starts April 13th and
goes up to May 18th. Toms only in the spring, 3 per season, hens or toms
in fall season. These are Easterns with 10x vision and learn very quickly. :)

We got birds your more than welcome to stop down and do hunt this spring
if you can make it. I can take along 1 guest on my hunt lease and would
like to offer it to you for helping me tune and fix my bows over the years.
Thank you.

Zuludog 03-13-2013 02:40 PM

Awesome pics! Neil, like I said before, those are some incredible animals and it will be hard to top that season. Congrats! :)

Great shooting.

They are ruffed grouse....notice the arrow I used (laying on them) has only 2 fletchings....a well tunes bow can still shoot and arrow well with only 2 fletchings!

I had only one bird arrow in my quiver at the time and didn't want to mess with my broad heads as I was moose hunting.

Oh and in each picture I am using a different bow lol.

Bonescreek 03-13-2013 03:47 PM

Sorry about the chunkar (quail) and sage (grouse) mixup. Down here
in VA we are trying to restore the bobwhites as best we can so that's
always on my mind.

When I first moved down here nine years ago I wanted to raise chickens and quail etc. I do have chickens but never got around to the quail, I was thinking of releasing surrplus quail to help restock the woods. They have been a part
of the history of VA for a long, long time. Wanted to help give something
back. Maybe next year.

To shoot a grouse is like taking down an F-14. :)
And it's the best tasting bird I have ever eaten.
Even on the ground, with a bow, that's sayin' something.
Hat's off to you my friend.

Okotokian 03-13-2013 03:55 PM

Son's first elk, or big game animal of any sort for that matter. More proud of that then anything I've ever bagged.

Okotokin, did you have fortune to share the moment ?

Hope so, memories like these last a lifetime and can never be
replaced.

Yup, I took that pic. Was nice. He used his deceased maternal grandfather's 70 year old .303 rifle, so that was special too. This year my oldest son (lapsed hunter) wants to get back in on the action too. Me and my two boys. I'm pumped!

VA, eh? I thought you had a few too many turkeys there to be an Alberta boy. :) I'd like to hunt them someday. Looks fun.

Bonescreek 03-13-2013 04:33 PM

Try to do a quote here hope it works...

Only thing we got too many of is Coyotes and Southern Lawyers fer sur.
One and the same back home we spelled lawyers like liars,
one and the same that's how they are pronounced the same with a southern
accent.

:)

Seriously wish I could make the same offer to the rest but the lease allows
only 1 guest.
I'm not running some fenced in hunt for profit or anything like that. Just
wanted to offer up a thank you to someone who helped me in the past.
Hope he takes me up on the offer, think it could be a lot of fun even if we
don't get a shot.

Nice work lost arrow, great bulls. I will post pics of my 2012 season here in a bit, just one was a bow kill though.

bush monkey 03-13-2013 08:36 PM

2012

I started out elk hunting, had few close encounters before finally getting between a bull and his cows. A bugle had him beeline right to me. He was onto me at about 40 yards and was fixing to leave, but I was able to stop him just long enough to get the job done. I then took my son on a moose hunt, and we where successfull on a decent bull. Was an awesome hunt. One of my favorites. Hunted for deer pretty hard, but was pretty picky. Lots of great hunts though. Then finally went on a cat hunt that I had been waiting on for a long time. It was unreal. I packed my bow on the hunt, but was uncomfortable with the shot circumstances and the outfitter was happy to lend me his lever gun. All in all I had a fantastik year. Very lucky.

The little bugger was halariouse on the moose hunt. He sure made it fun.

The cat went 15 and 12/16, its just a number to me though, The hunt meant more to me than a lot of people will ever know.

Thanks pikeslayer22, Yea, there is a lot of big timber around where I hunt. Im just starting to find out where and how to get on them suckers this last few years. lol.

bush monkey 03-14-2013 03:34 PM

I see Lost arrow has a coyote in the 2012 list! They have got to be one of the toughest things to get with a bow as well. I have been able to get 2 over the years while out hunting, but I always try for them when given the chance.
