Going to be around drumheller next week for a wedding, thinking about trying to fish the reddeer river while we're there, just wondering how it's fishing and if anyone is willing to share any tips or spots.

Water is very low and very clear. The Shorthead Redhorse bite was on last month

If you find a spot where the river is taking a sharp bend, or there is some sort of obstruction of the current causing the water to slow or the current to be interrupted, you will most likely find fish.

Small brass Krocodile spoon would probably slay Gold Eye in that section of the river. Probably catch the odd pike too. For Walleye try a white/black buck tail jig, or maybe a 3" plastic twister tail grub. Mr twister is one of my fave brands, the tails I find have the best action.

If you have access to bait (dew worms catch everything, even the odd pike), you can't go wrong with a pickerel rig tossed down into a deep river bend. Use a half worm and thread him on just enough so there's 2-3 CM of his tail wiggling in the current. I find rigging the worm this way maximizes hookups because they are taking almost the whole hook into their mouth with one bite of that half worm, while still having that little bit of wiggle to attract the bite. Size 1 octopus is perfect for walleye I find.

*edit* If you use a "slow death" style hook on your P-rig, you can thread almost the entire half worm on there without worrying about losing action. The zig-zag angles of the hook add a nice wiggle action to your bait without leaving anything dangling and risking bait theft.
