Modded spring bobbers
1 Attachment(s)
This morning my 15 year old , who loves ice fishing, modded a few of my spring bobbers. He figures we should be able to see them better. You've got to love how kids think :happy0034:

I like the way your son thinks!
I tried and modified quite a few different set-ups for panfish...finally settled on a Marmish indicator I adapted to fit on my regular ice rods. Easy to put on, take off and adjust on the fly. They come in different sensitivities/thicknesses too. My buddy took a course on Scandinavian ice techniques. For larger fish like walleye they make indicators made out of 16 Ga piano wire. I made one a while back, I'll try to find some pics of it. |

Thanks Mayhem. I really like the ones you have. I will have to try those next.

Sweet Ideas... I'm going to have to head to the piano store on my way home tomorrow to make some of those spring bobbers in the video. Great way to brighten things up in low light with that chartruese tip. Props to your offspring!

Indicators
About 15yrs ago i used to make my own indicators out of lighter springs. Then I started to make them out of piano springs. They worked great but I found they wouldn't last too long. Now I just use the marmish springs. They are easy to put on any rod and are easy to see. They last pretty long too. They come in different sizes, you need to match the line and hook size to the size of the spring. The marmish are the best store bought springs imo.
