Fawn for Breakfast
Watched a grizz catch and kill a pair of new mule fawns this morning . He spotted one fawn at 50.yds and ran him down . As he grabbed the first one the second one got up 20 yds away and took off , bear drops first one and makes a dodge at # 2 , grabs him by the back and jogs off to eat breakfast ..anyone that thinks they can outrun a bear had best rethink it . Never thought I'd see something like that out here on the prairie .https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c1be227a7d.jpg

Crazy wish one would have at least gotten away. It gives a guy some perspective on there speed and power when you witnessed such events. I seen one run up and down the face of a mountain in northern B.C. chasing caribou one day. I didn’t believe the run down hill thing from bears after seeing that one doesn’t have to many options if they want you.

Should have got a bit closer. Poor picture! :)

Wow that would be crazy to watch!!!!

Are you in 108? Unreal? Cool to see but sucks for deer.
|
Ranchers must enjoy seeing them around. Their calves.
|
Thanks for sharing, woulda been quite a sight. Though I've heard quite a few sightings of them being out in the more open prairie of WMU 108 it still suprises me when I see the picture.

send this message to Jason Nixon and kindly explain that the Grizzly pop. in Alberta has expanded enough to allow a limited entry spring hunt for Grizz in every zone in the province. This would allow ranchers the opportunity to shoot the bears that are preying on their calves and on mule deer elk ,etc.
|
Considering the Grizzlies were a prairie animal 150 years ago not so strange, cool to see though I've seen them up close in the Barrens different species amazing animals though.

Very cool, thanks for posting that pic. I wouldn't have gotten closer either. I got pics up in 356 from 75 yards, but I also had my 300 win mag with me and a buddy with his as well. But that is still too close!

The stars just lined up for you That sure would be something to see

A couple tags for each grizzly management unit would be prefect

grizz
Grizz like to fatten up on moose, elk, deer and caribou calves in spring. One grizz that was fixed with a camera fattened up on 40 in one spring hunt.
|
Now, picture this on the Ya Ha Tinda and elk calves. It's a banquet for them. :mad3:
Grizz |
Neat experience, saw something similar with a coyote & WT fawn. Quite the memory. Thanks for sharing!
