'hot spot' nymphs?????

So I have read and seen a lot about "hot spot" flies lately. usually they will just wrap pink thread behind the bead to create a 'hot spot' on the fly. I am just wondering if this works as well as it is hyped up to or if it is just a new
spin on old patterns? Any thoughts?

It works real well, especially when the waters off colored. Depends what the fish are eatin though as with any pattern.

It works well on lightly pressured fish especially in stained waters as mentioned before. Hot orange is the standard color but pinks and chartreuse are growing popularity.

Good to know. Might have to tie some for the early season this year

I put hotspots on some of my nymphs. But not all. There is a time and a place to use them. But sometimes subtle is better than bold. But having said that there is always a place for nymphs with a hotspot in my box.
