Gull Lake Ice Fishing

Good morning all, was wondering about where is the best place to access Gull lake and where to ice fish there? We will be coming in from Olds area and want to catch some perch and whites. Is there too much snow for trucks? or should we take atvs? Thanks and hope to see you out there this nice warm weekend.

try brownlows or sandy point as there is lots of snow on east side

Got my whites on the west side this am . First light orange and gold bead wire worm .

We got on west side of lake at brownlows landing, wow what a nice way to get on the lake. It was very accessible even cars driving on the ice. We arrived at 10am and we went out towards shacks (Looks like a little town) amazing. We caught a few small pike. We didn't catch any whites as we might have to get there a little earlier. Thanks all now I go on shift but will be back next week if the weather holds.

Thanks,

Westlake and Sunset Legion campground

I had some good luck for whites at the north end last winter (Westlake) and have been back there twice this winter so far and nothing! Was there yesterday again and only saw one white caught a couple small snaky jacks and a big burbot. I don't eat them so I put him back! Access was good at the north end too.

I see that at brownlows there are a bunch of shacks set up, are those mostly rentals? I was thinking of heading there again next week and staying for the morning and evening bite or even over night if I had a shack. I am assuming they are positioned well for fishing ? Don't want to rent a dud spot lol. Is there others everywhere on the lake? I would like to try this out before the end of ice fishing this year.

Thanks

Gull update

Went out about 1 Km east of Sandy Point on Wednesday. Sunny, no wind but cold enough that holes skimmed over all day. Partner and I landed 3 burbs and a couple of pike all by jigging except one on dead bait. We were after whites in a spot we fish successfully year after year by GPS but a bust. In past years by this date the burbs and whites are thick there. Hoping we are just a bit early and success will pick up next week. As with previous posts the snow is deep and wind packed so bad for vehicles without snow tires, 4X4 and good ground clearance. One little red car might still be out there... Ice was about 30" thick.

Went out at Raymond shores today, it's driveable along as you stay on the main trails. Fishing was pretty slow for us but there was a few people catching

We didn't get out there early as I got off nights, we got there about 11am. went to brownlows and even off sandy point and didn't get a bite all day till 5pm. Don't know what is up haha used maggot, minnow, worm and wire worms and nothing. Stayed on packed trail and even went off a bit and wasn't too bad with 4x4 truck. Beautiful day though. Going to try tomorrow morning I think. Never been to east side as west side is easier for me to access. If a person was to go on east side or even north which would be better for access and fishing?

please report on snow pack .

Isopod 03-07-2018 11:12 PM

In my experience the access at Wilson's is terrible when the snow gets deep, but it's been quite a few years since I've fished it so maybe they have better access now?
