The Blue Darner
Alot of people write this insect off when hatching and never have any in the flybox.
This is a pattern that is always in my terrestrial box http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/...ps49548c1c.jpg |

Stunning if fragile .

I carry one with me always now. Came across a hatch of them 2 years ago managed to catch 1 brown that had several in it stomach. Very cool and a very nice tie.

Looks awesome. I make one parachute style that has fooled a few fish as well.

Very nice! looks tasty too.
What's the tail made of, is it just a plastic rod of some kind? |

I'm curious as to how you fish this pattern?
I've also got one in a fly box that I've pulled out a few times on a beaver pond where these dragonflies are quite common and I've never had any luck with the pattern and just wrote it off to it being a fly to catch fishermen, not fish. Do you let it sit or do you actively fish it? If active, what kind of motions are you using? Preferential locations to try prospecting with this pattern? Do you use it mostly still water or flowing? As always, thanks for any help you can offer! |

I will cast it out, let it sit a short bit, if no fish show interest then start giving it little twitches like a normal struggling darner would when it hits water I will whip this pattern out when a hatch is on and I see the fish attacking struggling darners. Also on some slower days Ill tie on this pattern and it has worked as the fish need something different. its a good fly |
thanks!
