Buying 20 Ga Ammo in Calgary
I just thought I d ask if anyone noticed
A good variety of 20 ga shells at any retailer . I went to a couple of places in the south without much luck ... Thnx Nik |
I just purchased some at Fly's Etc. in High River today. They had a good assortment of target and game loads. :)
|
I've always bought mine from Wholesale sports and never been without. But Flys Etc is a good suggestion. And they are happy to bring in anything you want that they don't have.

Were you looking for something specific?

20 ga
I need field loads ...1300 fps 1 1/8 loads lead
Waterfowl loads ....# 3 or 4 steel .... Just as a note .....I bought 6 boxes of Winchester Super Target shells Each box has a few shells that will not go in the chamber. The crimp rim is flared . Winchester will pick them up via purolator and reimburse me .. Another note ....the Weatherby SA-08 20 Guage will not recycle the target load ....too new ....it does field loads . Just glad it's pre season ...thnx |
Cycling problems? Did you try the other gas piston?

The Calgary Wholesale Sports is listing the Federal 20 gauge 1-1/8 ounce loads in stock. However, they aren't cheap.

To me shooting 1 1/8 - 1 1/4 oz loads defeats the purpose of downsizing to a 20ga. After all 1 1/8 is the standard 12ga load and 7/8 is the standard 20ga load. A 3" 20? Might as well just shoot a 12ga.

I get your point, but most 20's are lighter and easier to carry when you're hiking over hill and dale upland hunting. That would be one reason to go to the 20 even if you still wanted a heavy load. But it'll kick more of course. |
Everybody's right..
Everything I read said buy a 20 semi for your lady ...
As I already said the SA-08 12 ga I have will shoot any Load in 2 3/4 or 3 " ...So I got a hell of a deal on a SA -08 At Bass pro no less . ...I thought 20 ga gas less recoil . I was right , it just won't shoot light loads . According To Weatherby put 100 or so 11/4 ...1300 fps thru it . Loosen it up ! I have a few hotter loads , works like a dream , But more recoil . I will buy some tomorrow Somewhere . Now for the most important part , she has tried several of my 12 ga s .They are to heavy ...This one is light , not much kick , It's not pink ...easy to operate . Surely to god I don't to explain buying stuff for your wife . You should have been with us for the golf club purchase . |

The Weatherby lady says when your breaking it
In with field loads use the heavy load cylinder only . I tried both with those super targets ....just no go . |
