Sooke Halibut Reccomendations?

I'm planning a trip to the Sooke/Victoria region of Vancouver Island in July. I'd really appreciate good recommendations for charters. I see most charters handle both salmon and halibut, but our preference is more to halibut.

Timing?

Check when the halibut are in. Could be wrong, but they’re usually in the Sooke area April-May. After that it’s anywhere between Sooke and Japan, IIRC.

For a better, almost Sure thing, halibut, go 1 hour to port renfrew,Miller, Sea wind,John wells,Island outfitters, and more, all catch halibut every day, along with salmon, and right now you can keep large wild chinook as almost all are from the states.

Sooke halibut

I appreciate the replies

After speaking with a charter owner, I've learned halibut fishing can be lousy in July in the Sooke area. This is because the warmer water brings a ton of bycatch.

Ill see if Port Renfrew is any different.

Thanks

Sooke definitely has a lot of dogfish during that time. Renfrew will have less dogfish but mainly 10-25 lb halibut. Perfect eating size though!
