Cold Lake Downrigger Lakers - Video

Was out to Cold Lake for Lake Trout in August. This a little bit of a late report since I was too busy to put the video together. Had a ton of footage... tried to shorten it down and keep it entertaining and informative. I think we got on the water around 10 AM and caught 24 Lakers trolling spoons. Took a nice break on one of the sand beaches for lunch. Found that someone had left a little firestand on the beach where we cooked up some hot dogs. What an amazing calm day though, have to love fishing cold lake. Biggest lakers caught were 70 cm and all were returned to the deep.

Another great entertaining and educational video.

You certainly had a nice calm day there.

What percent of trout would you say you catch on the stinger when trolling a spoon?

Thanks and keep the videos coming.

Thanks; My Malibu Kayak is the Pro2Tandem Fish and Dive. Its 13 feet long and can carry something like 550lbs. Very stable as well.

Its hard to say the percentage because it ranges every time out. There are days where 100% of the fish are hooked on the stinger. But This trip I think about 50-70% were on the stinger. Just depends how aggressive they are.

Looks great Brandon .... Is that your little girl already?
You guys look like a great family always making the most out of time together.
Are you living back in Alberta permanently now?

Cheers,
Mike

Yeah that is my Daughter Caleah, she's my little fishing buddy. Not even two (will be in at the end of the month) and she loves going fishing. I cast the rod out and she cranks it in and says, "cast it out again." The second one is on the way in November.

Not permanently back in Alberta yet, but seems like spending half my time in Canada now that work requires less of me. One more week and I'll be back there for two and will try some fall fishing. Actually have a temp license and working on getting a position in BC... then I'll have to change focus to salmonids.
