Looking For Perch
Can anyone help? Looking for some good perch fishing close to Edmonton. Possibly Gull, Lac Ste. Anne, or anywhere within an hour/hour and a half. Any lakes and secret spots if you don't mind sharing. Thanks.

you can try hasse, its close to lac st anne. Lots of perch in there, i was using maggots and getting bites every time i put the line down, lots were small but there was some keepers. it is a very busy place but still lots of fun.

X2 If you don't want to share your spot, then don't. But don't go after the guy because he asked a question. Never hurts to ask a question right? I've had lots of help on here related to hunting and fishing both. Why brag that you had to 'work to find your spot' and then refuse to help.
A good perch lake used to be Pine Lake. Now you might want to try pigeon or Gull. All the best. P.S. If you look this was 'Eye hunter's first post, so he hasn't spent much time around the board. Great welcome to the site.... |
I just recieved a pic of my buddy on Gull with some dandy sized perch but I have no idea were on the lake he was.

gull lake is huge and the majority of it is untouched throught the winter, if you take the time to explore it can be extreamly rewarding.

Thanks to all the guys who had something nice to say. I am new to the board and was just looking for some advice. As for secret spots, it was more of a "put it out there and see what happens" comment. I don't expect guys to give up their secret spots, maybe just general locations on the lake. I guess I got the response that if you're not buddy's with everyone than no one will talk to you. Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Really appreciate it.

the mysterious people that "fish out" all the so called "secret spots" are likely people who never bother to read the regs or read posts anyways :tongue2: I heard Gull lake is great for perch. |
I'm thinking cow lake and Burntstick lake might be worth a try too, Burntstick is about an hour and a half northwest of Calgary so I'm thinking it should be about the same for Edmonton, maybe 2 hours. South west of course. Seen lots of nice sized perch out of Burntstick but have not been to cow lake, have seen pictures of perch from cow on the board here though. I think cow is in the same general area? I may be wrong though. Good luck.

I dont mind sharing this though (seeing as the lake has been airated already) go and try Cardiff. Its just south of Morinville. There are perch there but they are picky.. I pick them up on my flasher in big groups but have a hard time hooking em. Again, go and pick up that magazine.. its a great tool! Perch lakes up here are hard to find... southern alberta and they are everywhere. Best of luck |
X2 for Hasse. I've had luck everywhere at least 100 yards from shore with maggots and a yellow gumball. Any closer and you should hook some trout.
I'll be there tomorrow. Look for the two tents with the blue tarp joining them(or smell the deer steaks bbqing). |
