Longbow hunting arrows, questions
 

I'm new to longbow archery and would like some opinions.

60' longbow, 45lb@28", 28" is my limit.

Currently shooting 400 spine carbon arrows with 125g tips, total arrow weight is 400 grains, 29" long. They fly straight and i'm happy with that. Trajectory seems ok up to 20-25 yards which i consider my limit for now. Would this be a good choice for whitetail/mule deer? Or should i go for lighter/heavier option?

Any specific broadheads/arrow weights you guys tend to favor for this weight package?

I used 2 blade cut on contact myself. I use the carbon express like driver 150gr broadhead. Shoots like a laser and leaves big holes with lots of blood.

I've since went from 450gr setup to a 660gr setup and I really like how the bow reacts. The shower arrow makes up for the heavy hits. Sunset your looking for whitetail I'd keep the lighter arrows for the fastest possible arrow without losing too much arrow weight. Whitey's can be jumpy;)

What's the draw weight for your bow?

My current bow is 55lb at my 27" draw. It's rated for 58 @ 28".

I used to shoot expandable broadheads and fixed blade on my compounds and was informed that cut on contact are the bee's knees for Trad bows. Ive used wood and carbon arrows both with cut on contact broadheads and haven't been let down.

I personally feel a.medium weight arrow setup is a good compromise between the heavy and light weight arguments. With that said if your getting good accuracy and you put a SHARP cut on contact broadhead on a light arrow into the vitals of Whitey's you won't have any issues.
