Crawling Valley Whitefish

Just wondering if anyone's had any luck catching them in there? I personally have never targeted them there and would like to, but I'm just wondering if others had caught them and if they are worth searching for ?

I don't fish CVR, but I know there is a modest population of very large lake whitefish.

A 15lber is not out of the question.

Never caught one but we've seen some monster "floaters"(dead) all summer long when we are out for walleye.

I've never seen the water clear enough to sight fish them, they are there but finding them and targeting may be tricky

Snagged one 2 years ago trolling cranks for walleye in the deepest water I could find one hot afternoon. Never seen one in the winter. They might be tullibee not whitefish. Not sure though.

X2 Thought I saw one through the ice a few yrs back but in hind site it most likely was a tulabe. Always some large ones floating dead in the summer.

for those that don't know the difference...whitefish=overbite, tulibee/cisco =under bite. I used to catch them in Manitoba and they were good smoked until I learned about the parasites, then I just released them.
