Who owns the land they hunt?

Who actively manages it in terms of forage and shelter?

I do. but the alfalfa is for hay that i sell to horse owners. the clover and other few acres of seeds from cabelas is test plots to see if i can hay it. horse people are fussy and i want to sell them good hay at most unresonable prices. Its only 80 acres in the county tho.

We bought 70 acres that we built on this summer. About 50 open and the rest treed. The open is old pasture that I want to get tilled under and into some good hay just to bring them around and give the neibours some free hay. I have had the trail cams up and we have a decent herd around. Seems like they use my land for a bedding area then feed on some of the ajacent lands.

I had feed out last winter for them and I put up a clear sign for them to read. It clearly stated that the food pile was for the squirals and any deer found stealing from it would be shot..

I wish.

my 65 was 70% cleared for hay, im letting it all grow back but the county makes me mow down the thistles which also gets all the saplings.

You'd be better off keeping it in hay. :D

We bought a half section this spring in WMU 521. About 100 acres hay rented out the rest bush. My wife has trophies for big mulie bucks but has yet to close the deal on a white tail buck, this is the year. We're busy putting up a cabin but when the weather cools. Will have tree stands up for next year but for me this year is cabin building. Got photos of mulie, wt, elk, bear, fisher, fox, coyote etc.

Sweet,, yah momma and I are on the look out for about the same thing right now. There is a piece in that country for sale now that she wants me to jump at but,, I just don't feel ready for it. With our 3 boys getting up there we feel it would be a solid investment for the whole family to enjoy and one never knows, the day may be just around the corner when we may need that land to live and heck its only going to get more expensive..

I know I have said it before but I will say it again.. Mark Twain said it years ago.. "Buy land they quit making it"

And hunting season is ten weeks instead of four.

2 Quarters rent it out, Hay on one and wheat on other one.

Own a few parcels both in Alberta and Sasky.. Most of these lands have become more so natural and managed for wildlife and personal enjoyment.

Private land I own is hunted by many people other than family... These people have earned my respect and share my passion for the outdoors.

we have left 1 quarter to nature, mostly spruce and tamarack, cows go in for maybe 3 weeks out of the year other than that it's moose, deer a few coyotes and the occasional bear or cat. On November 1 it becomes deserted though:angry3:

have a small chunk in Saskatchewan that's leased, but truth be told, for hunting, I prefer staying at my sisters small town summer home where permission is easy, game is plentiful, and I don't have to invest any labour.

2000 acres and hunt every acre of it.

We now own a half section in Sk, have not had a chance to hunt (goose) it yet. About 80 acres in grass, the rest crop.

Own quarter which is a shooting preserve but also have crops and 4 pieces of water to hunt. Lease other neighboring quarters for pheasant release so have access to the whole section.

Ive got a quarter of bush, meadow, slew and mosquitos in northern Sask. Just havent hunted it yet

I have 80 acres in the Strathcona WMU 248.

Got some nice animals on it.

Considering getting a bow to get in on the action, as the two hunters that are here every day are waiting for the big buck to come back and the Bull Moose have my blood pumping with stories.

3200 acrea in ab and 1600 in Christopher lake Sask.....I hunt all of it and let close friend and family do the same on both...outfitters don't get the luxury of my property....residents only

Yup, 5 quarter sections and if I could keep the damn trespassers off of it I would have some hunting success!

2 quarters. One is bush bordered by miles and miles of crown only accessable by me through my land and the other is a hay field that is rented out.:sHa_shakeshout:

Hunting land
 

I own about 50% of Alberta on shares with other Albertans. I got to hunt elk on a small portion of it this Fall - after an 11 year wait to be drawn and I shot a young bull for meat. Most of this land is used to feed wolves and cougars but it also provides the odd white tailed and mule deer.

I have title to 10 acres more or less and I once shot a grouse on it and a few red squirrels. However I have seen mule deer, white-tails, moose, coyotes and fox on it.

And I am one of Young Eldon's partners who hold access rights to a huge amount of land that we don't have to pay taxes on or fence.

160 acres with only 60 open for putting up hay for the horses...rest is bush and it also has a river running all the way through the property...Deer,Moose,Elk,Black Bear,Canada Geese,Have all been within easy shooting range on this chunk of beautifull land...and oh ya i live right in the middle of that paradise.

410 acres on the athabasca; 100 acres of bush!
