Gifts for 13 year old boy

As the title says looking for gift ideas for my son who seems to have everything he needs already. Has hunting and fishing gear, tools, dirt bike and sled, gear for both seasons. Keep him off the gaming systems and I am stumped for an Xmas gift this year. What’s everyone thinking of for their sons this year?

well, he has quite a bit, so how about just things to make those things more enjoyable; a few len Thompson spoons and a box of ammo, a new helmet for his head that will get larger.

Why not take him on a special ice fishing trip - just the two if you? Doesn't have to be expensive, just make it special.

Snowmobile trip!!!
Give him experiences not toys.
You are one lucky guy.

Costco has some pretty sweet looking Nerf guns for sale right now. Haven't tried one, but they looks like they could be fun. The inclusion of the face masks give me hope they actually have some velocity behind them, but they could just be their for liability reasons.

took a nerf to my raw eyeball at an X-mass party, it was like getting a street hockey ball to the leg after the ball was in minus 35 weather. sting with a bit of stickiness

I've always wondered about these. You have convinced me. Should be fun this Christmas.

the guns that used to shoot discs the size of a dime were super intense, but they stopped selling them in 78.

the little crossbow and target for indoor fun is pretty good too and still take out an eye with the suction cup. I suppose the suction cup would help put the eye back into the socket too.

back on thread; plan a sled/quad trip that overlaps hunting with fishing

I’m sure a 13 year old has a cell phone so if you have some hunting ground that you can set up a trail cam you could get him one of those trail cams that send him instant photos to his smart phone.

He don’t need nothin... take him out to do something

Ken07AOVette 11-26-2018 09:06 PM

Has he got a drone? (if you live in the country)

Salt shotgun for flies?

3d printer and good program?

Air rifle for practise?

Archery gear?

Tools?

Bush Critter 11-26-2018 09:10 PM

How about a BMX bike an nice crome one...

Well where was I at 13? I suppose they don’t make playboy anymore, maybe some of the more risqué types might be a little over the top. I also wanted a dirt bike 😬

As others have said, he seems to have 'everything'. The greatest gift would be taking the time to get him out and use what he has.
You mention keeping him off the video games. I had the same issues with my boys until I realized that all the stuff in the world has a hard time competing with the games.
For example, one of their presents this year is paying for a day for the two of them and their friends spending the day at our local airsoft field.

An old car that the two of you can fix up so it is ready when he turns 16.
For the next 3 years you can get parts for birthday and Christmas.

Googled where Gillam, Manitoba is to figure out where you are close to. Would be great if you can get to Winnipeg and take in a Jets game with your son, great gift. University of Manitoba Hockey is also really good if Jets tickets are too outrageous. Always a great gift doing something together.

Get him a fleshlight so he doesn’t ruin all your wife’s fancy face cloths. Plus, you’ll save the money in shorter showers in no time...

That sounds like a good idea... with favorite player of course

drhu22 11-26-2018 11:50 PM

It sounds like you aren't hurting for funds so if he's a pc gamer, maybe a graphics card upgrade... maybe he's interested in photography?

Quality time together regardless of the present is the most important thing of course.

In Gilliam you need outdoors stuff, sounds like he has plenty ,but never enough of outdoor gear.Way up there I would buy him a good GPS plus a good silva hand compass and teach him how to use both,so he never just's depend on some electronic deal.

I have done this with my grandson,so he knows how to use both, one way with gps and silva, then back with the silva. If he likes to hunt alone later on it's a gift he may very well need, plus kids learn fast.If not this year in years to come it will be a fine gift.
Then to the Trappers bar in Thompson in few years and show him some of the mounts in there.specially the one small one on a board behind the bar and make him guess what it is,just joken, haha.Have you seen it.

Thanks guys for the many ideas. I see a common theme of an outdoors trip/father son excursion. I tend to think that’s a good idea as he does seem to have too much material things. Being in Gillam is an outdoorsmans paradise that I should capitalize on with my son. Time with dad is likely very important for him at this age. Soon he won’t want much to do with his parents. Lol

Everyone laughs but this is the best advice so far!

Get him a customized Buck knife with an engraving? I am 30 and have all the stuff I need but would still love a good quality Buck knife with an engraving from my Dad.

X 2....you read my mind.

The engraving on any item you choose is so personal and the likelihood of him ever losing it is slim...
Good luck...
