Best Alberta outfitter for a Cougar Hunt

Any opinions?

If you are a Canadian resident I highly recommend Wayne Anderson.

Jason Martyn of lone pine Outfitting...

He donated a cougar hunt to the Wild Sheep Foundation of Alberta’s annual youth camp - which my son won. The way schedules worked, we had three days to hunt between Christmas and New Years.
He had 4 trucks/guides looking for tracks in the fresh snow, they started at 3am and went hard all day... every day they cut at least one track, loosed the dogs, and each day treed a cat. Twice they were too small (though Conner would have been happy with them, Jason said he could find a bigger one) and then in the last hour of the last day, Conner harvested a beautiful Tom.
I honestly CANNOT recommend him more.
He’s located in Sundre, Conner took his cat just off the forestry trunk road, west of bearberry

if a trophy Tom is what you are looking for kelly Morton is one of the best out there.

I took my cat with The Kelly Morton crew. I have nothing but good things to say and had a hunt that I’ll never forget.

That is pretty good of this guy to work that hard for a donated hunt. He got your son a very nice cat.

Byron has retired hounds that have caught more big Toms then some of the outfits mentioned. That is no joke.

sns2 03-15-2019 11:48 AM

My search would begin and end with Byron.

Nobody will!!
If one wants to kill a monster cat, not sure why you would call anybody else?

Jim Blake 03-15-2019 04:18 PM

Jason Martyn is a good choice but if you want a REALLY big cat Byron will produce.

Desert Eagle 03-15-2019 04:58 PM

Yes they do. They sure put the time in beforehand scouting. You won’t be disappointed with their results.

Torkdiesel 03-15-2019 10:42 PM

Byron without a doubt is one of the best, the only one close to him is Chorney

Good luck getting in with Byron anymore, with 10 allocation tags and his lynx and cat hunts in B.C. he’s hardly taking any residents any more.
Chorney’s treed 70 cats in the last two years for the government, next year I’m guessing with the program ending he’ll be taking more residents in December.

If you want to run bears with dogs Chorney is definitely one of the best out there. Most hunters are crushing 7 foot boars behind his hounds

brcarcol 03-16-2019 12:45 AM

Cat Country Outfitters is who i would go with!!! Big Cat...great hunt.

Gilly 03-16-2019 04:45 PM

If you want the best hands down Kelly Morton! Awesome crew, great dogs and his success rate on big toms is second to none. When the chips are down and the conditions go for hell Kelley’s dogs shine! Threw and threw a great dog guy that knows how to put cats in trees. He’s worth every penny.

Cheers

Gilly.

JMac12 03-16-2019 05:49 PM

Kelly Morton and crew! You won't find a harder working bunch then Kelly Morton and Company. I took a great cat with him and wouldn't hesitate to go again. Already booked a lynx/bobcat hunt in BC with him this fall.
