Any Geocachers here?

I stumbled across a geocache the other day, in a remote, but very sensitive and fragile (dryland) area, that can only handle light, random, foot traffic. I think it was placed very recently, within a week or two and there's already a set of vehicle tracks leading off the main 2-track trail, and straight to it. The tracks might be from the person who set up the cache, or maybe an early geocache seeker. I'd like to contact the person who set it up, and suggest that they remove it, before others follow that set of vehicle tracks - or make new ones.
It seems that I have to join a geocacher organization to access the master list of sites, to hopefully track down the person who set up this specific site. I'd rather not join another group - just for this. I don't want to track down the lease manager, or government/environment people - they might simply shut down all access to the lease - which would be a real shame.
Any suggestions on how to get in touch with this geocacher? PM me please!

If I was a lease-holder and people started driving willy-nilly over my lease, ya - I might just post NO ENTRY WITHOUT PRMISSION - and forget to post my phone number!

Pursue the legal aspect, otherwise it’s fair game. I geocache during those warm afternoons while goose hunting. Get to know the neighbourhood and the neighbours. Pretty sure someone geocached my deer stand, as being the best deer stand.

geocaches

Hey Thumper, I can probably help you get some answers and maybe connect you to the geocache owner. If you like, send me the location of the geocache and I will report back.
Geocaches on private property must be approved by a landowner. On leased land, I guess it depends upon what the access restrictions are, if any. Just like for any other recreational activity.
If the area is sensitive, the cache owner would likely be co-operative.
If the cache goes missing, it wont stop people from trying to find it until several people come up empty. Then, usually it is replaced. Once it goes missing a couple of times the fun ends and its the end of it, but the better way is to have chat and ask that it be removed or relocated.

Remember the Pokemon craze several years back? People got off their couches and started wandering around staring at their phones while trying to find the elusive critters.
It's like that, but mostly in the wilderness using a GPS.
