Beaver floats
 

Was reading a thread in trapper man about floats was curios if any you out there use them an for what kind of areas you use them creek rivers sloughs etc thanks for any tips an info guys

I use them in flowing water, and in areas of fluctuating water levels. They are a pain to lug around, but are very effective.

I trap a huge marsh that I use float sets on. It doesn't have well defined banks for colony traps so it's the best method. I started out using this set up but now I use a foothold at either end of the float which is much better. I only need a minimum of 1' of water for a humane dispatch.

Thanks for the info guys yea I have one smaller river system that fluctuates a lot in spring I trap beavers on so was wondering if these might be a good idea an just have em ancored with cable to the shore

Another option worth considering for along the shore may be a lathe set.

That more for muskrat I’m assuming over beaver ?

I was thinking that you were trapping muskrats with the float set but you want to trap beavers? I should have read the op better.

Good Dave yea was just looking at some diff methods for catching beaver for few farmers I trap yotes on that want em gone so figure might as well perfect social distancing

What HD is using , I have used something similar.....for rats.. but for beaver, they would not be stable enough for the beaver not to shy from.....unless the 330 would fall over on him, like a deadfall....haha

The one I’ve been looking at are like a v shape with 33 mounted between two arms

The V shape are the ones I tried but not in use anymore..

I just dont see the extra effort of packing them around worth it, when you can throw a castor mound anywhere and quickly and it's more or just as effective. I like to keep things simple and effective.

I agree with u kngrat they would be bulky I was thinking they might be handy for where water leaves fluctuate
