Good one BB. Nothing stronger than a mother's instinct to protect her young.

looks almost a little too 'set up' single position veiws are hard enough let alone a two camera setup.
trust me

Ya I'd have to call BS too.....likely a farm in Montana where you can rent a cougar and grizz for photo and video shoots.

Not saying it is not set up but how would you go about that??

Find a mountain meadow. Take a crate full of Grizzly Bear and crate full of Cougar and let them both go in front of each other. Hope one does not kill the other. Let them scrap it out. Then re-capture said bear and cat who are all amped up after a good scrap.

As they say " that juice ain't worth the squeeze".

Probably just as difficult to locate that event in wild though...

There is one on there with a black bear fighting a cougar on an old Wild Kingdom. That looked like a set up but with classic commentary.

Actually there truly are a couple places in Montana where you can rent all kinds of critters for photo and video shoots. They let them out in natural environments and you shoot away. Those great pics you see in magazines of cougars, wolves, lynx and even a lot of bears....1 800 rent a critter

Do you think they do kids birthdays? Nothing like letting a cougar go in backyard full of 6 year olds. Hours of entertainment.

Re: Grizz vs Mountain lion

have to agree with sheep hunter 100% dudes. have a book on the "rocky mountains - wilderness reflections". kind of a coffee table book with wicked pictures. photographer explains at the end how he took all the picture.

quote: "The carnivores were born in captivity and photographed in natural Rocky Mountain habitats. Most were trained at the Triple D Game Farm near Kalispell, Montana and the Wild Bunch Ranch near Driggs, Idaho."

the footage was obviously set up dudes.

Re: Re: Grizz vs Mountain lion

The grizz didn't put up much of a fight, the others vids were a little better. The Black bear vs Puma was better even though it seemed to be a Walt Disney animal adventure. I have a few of those kind of Walt shows.

The voice sounded like Marty Stouffer of Wild America. I seem to recall that several years ago, one of his cameramen confessed that his footage was generally all staged using captive trained animals.
