calibers for coyotes

I'm thinking of getting a new gun for coyote hunting and have narrowed my choice to either a .223 or .22-250. I have limited knowledge of either caliber and wonder if anyone has any suggestions. I currently use a .25-06. Thank you.

calibres for coyotes

I personally shoot a 22-250 and really like it, so i am obviously biased when i say choose this calibre. It does shoot a little flatter than the 223 and you do definitely see more of them in the field. There is minimal pelt damage with both. I hope this helps

I use a norinco 7.62x39mm, with a six power Leaper's scope . I paid 140.00 for the rifle, 90.00 for the scope, put a sniper stock on it for 20.00 from a gun show, and bought 1200 rnds of ammo for 160.00. Ammo works out to 13.3 cents a round. Had a coyote run into a shell at 350 paces. What it lacks in accuracy it makes up in fire power, and not much damage to the pelts.
