Archery sights
Hey guys so I have been shooting single pin adjustable for some time now but wanna switch over to multi pin. Just wondering what you all prefer for sights (brand and make) and how many pins do you use?

Montana Black Gold
I have a Black gold Ascent Verdict with 4 pins. So far I really like it! A lot of guys like the Spott Hogg or CBE as well. If you go with one of those I don't think you can go wrong.

I use the trophy ridge react..really like it as you sight in the 20yard and the 30yard and the 40,50 and 60 yard are automatically set

I like my spothogg but have been eyeing up those option archery sights, they look to be the best of both worlds.

7 pin IQ sight. Horizontal pins (the only thing I initially didn't like), bright pins, IQ Retina Lock, slightly heavy, but my body fluctuates more in an 8 hour period than the sight weighs so not a concern.
I have in the past used a PSE single vertical pin slider in combination with a Timberline No-Peep (liked that, still have it and may go back to it). As well, a Trophy Ridge 5 vertical pin stationary in combination with a Timberline No-Peep (again, really liked the vertical pins). But whatever has resided on my bow(s) over the last 20 years, I've always had a No-Peep / IQ style of alignment device on my bow without a string peep. More than sufficient for hunting ranges, tells me when I'm torqueing the bow and allows for correction prior to the shot and most importantly indicates when strings are getting tired and needs replacing (happened on several occasions) Although I like the IQ sight, I miss the vertical pin style of sights. Less clutter within the sight frame, better view of target/animal. J. |

I have the Trophy Ridge React Pro. Was able to get a wicked deal at WSS at the time, so that was a factor. I'm really liking it so far, nice bright pins and the auto-calculated pins are cool, although the construction still feels a bit light to me.
It was either that or the Spott Hogg Hunter. That's a very nice one. |
5 pin Montana black gold PURE gold Slider. It's been awesome so far, just bought it this spring. Top 3 pins are .019", bottom two are .010"

As for the OPs question, if you go with a quality sight you are going to be happy with what you have. The guys saying Axel, CBE, Spott Hogg, Black Gold all like the sight because that is what they have and likely they all picked them because of some personal preference. For me I went with Black Gold because of their warranty, customization, customer service (I actually talked to the guys at the company about the product before buying) and the brightness of the pins. It might not be the prettiest sight but it just downright works for what I have put it through so far. Morb |
I went with a Spot hogg fast eddie xl 3 pin.
Very good sight, may change the sight hood to a 5 pin or 4 pin custom next year. For now the 3 pin is fine. Only reason I may upgrade is because the more I shoot at distances beyond 45 yards the easier it gets. Didn't think it would matter out past 50 yards. My biggest improvement has not been the sight but rather the change in the stab. (6"coil dead weight to a 12" bestinger). Left and rights are about all but gone at any range and hand torke is cut in half or more reguardless of grip stile. |
.
I use the Hoggfather, but I was a fan of the IQ when I had it

I have the Black Gold Ascent Verdict in 3 pin. I have a Trophy Ridge React on my other bow that I like as well. I really am liking the 3 pin better. It doesn’t clog up the sight picture as much and with the hybrid style sight I can still shoot out to 100 yards, but in one yard increments, or leave it fixed and have my 20-30-40 set up.

Montana Black Gold.

Montana black gold ascent verdict from me as well! I run the 5 pin and love it.

Montana Black Widow Maker. 5 pin. Love it!

3 pin is not enough for me.
Would go with a 4 or 5 pin at least. I am happy with my Spot Hog but.. it's really heavy. So I'ld ask these guys with the other sights just how heavy are they ? I expect most will come in about 1/2 as heavy as spot hog. As far as hunting it's not a concern but target shot after shot it is. You'll find your bow arm dropping. And you have to compensate for that. So if you looking for a sight to use both target and hunting... Ask these posters how heavy is that sight ? If someone claims a really light weight ask them about a "buz or noise" when they shoot. |
I'm using a spot hog hunter right now 5 pin model but thinking of buying a 3 pin slider one pin at 25 one 35 one 45 bow reign 7 is fast enough that my pins are basically on top of each other
|
Yup
I have a Reign 7 and am using a 4 Pin Black Gold Ascent Verdict. The pins stack nicely in 10 yard increments with nice gapping. If your going to a 3 Pin it will definitely clean up the sight picture and the Reign has plenty of speed.

Unreal
The Reign 7 is unreal!!! Stays in tune, time, quiet, accurate and absolutely no vibration. Also easily adjustable! Honestly I have likely put more shots through the bow in one month than most put in a year and have absolutely no issues or concerns. I have it set up with a hunting set up but also have used it in a target set up and it’s great. If I do my part the bow does it. Before buying I shot a lot of different bows and it was close with a couple front runners at the end but now owning the Reign for 6 months, I know I made the right choice.

I love my reign 7 very quiet and dead on shot Fast by far favourite bow I’ve owned and I’m not brand loyal either but if they keep it up my next one will be bowtech again

I like the looks of the trophy ridge Alpha v5. Might try that this year instead of the trophy ridge react-one pro
|
I like the swords
