This is my Tac .20. I'm right handed but shoot off the silly side so it has a LH bolt and RH ejection port. I had it built by Ralf Martini a year before the .204 Ruger was introduced. A fun gun ,for sure.

nice! I was seriously considering a .20 back in the fall..and ended-up with a new CZ in 17Hornet. Having a ton of fun with it, but I'd love to try that caliber.

According to Nick Stroebel's book, "Old Rifle Scopes", Bushnell's first scopes marketed in the U.S.in 1953 were called the Scopemaster series in 2.5x, 4x & 6x power. The following year, they were renamed the Scopechief series in 2.5x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x & 3x9 variable and were produced until 1965,

Mossberg 142K: Manufactured 1953 - 1957. Have not found a "Scope Chief" to fit on it but the ScopeCheif IV 2.5x 8 works great.

The 1934 Savage had the same finger groove stock as your 68 but was Drilled and Tapped for the Lyman #55 S Peep sight as shown on this 1934/35 Savage Model 4 that I still hope to shoot a few gophers with.

In 1935 the Savage "S" models came out with this peep sight and hooded front sight with 3 inserts as shown on my Model 4 C, 5 and 6 gopher guns.

They all seem to like Remington Cyclones as shown on this target where I sighted the Model 5 S in. Little tricky to adjust the peep but shoots very well, even with my old eyes.

I have both the .204 and the .17 hornet.

Hornet is quieter and effective range is about 275yds with 25gr. Hornady bullets. The rifle will shoot farther but at 275yds. or less there are no walking wounded.

The .204 rocks, 350+yds. is a chip shot with 40gr. Hornady V-Max...BUT louder and the neighbors tend to complain a bit more.

If you have the room go .204 or if space is limited the .17 is a good choice...OR buy them both and have options...:sHa_shakeshout:

Here's my recent build. The gophers can't keep their eyes off it and I don't blame them!

-Dlask Arms action w/ 16" heavy barrel
-Dlask Arms bolt and charging handle
-Kidd guide rod and springs
-Kidd trigger kit
-Magpul stock
-Bushnell Engage 3-12

I’m honestly just getting into seeing what the cartridge is capable of outside of factory offerings so any nudge in the right direction is appreciated.

I'll have to agree with Dean. He gave me that load, so I pre-loaded 100 and went out gopher shooting (without ever grouping) and managed to flip gophers easily out to 200 yards. I finally go around to grouping them and all bullets were in a tight little almost one hole group @ 100 yards. I shoot a browning a bolt micro 2 in a left hand. It's now my go-to hornet load.
