Some spring fatty bows!

Hey guys/gals,

Me and a buddy made a trip out today for some fat feisty spring bows. The wind was pretty nasty for most of the day but we kept pounding the bugs through it and it paid off. We caught a ton of fish today, here is a few of the ones we caught today.

Yup I sure did. But after paddling for a bit I realized that my drip rings on my oars were slipping so I kept having to move the down to keep the oars in the proper spot. I also found out that the one valve was leaking bad and had to head to shore. The other 2 guys had belly boats and didn't even try them out.

We ended up just shore fishing all day.

I am going to look up online how to fix that valve and hopefully get out there again soon. If I do get it fixed then the boat should be a solid little tooner. I fixed the drip ring slippage by putting a hose clamp behind each one. This should solve the problem until I get some oar locks that clamp right to the oars.

Yup you should have went into the closet and put your man pants on today.

We were out there before sunrise, got all our gear ready in the dark, and headed out to sling bugs as the sun was rising up enough to see the indicator.

Hopefully my next trip will involve a working pontoon boat.

Great looking bows!! At least you were rewarded for fighting the wind... Hopefully it's calmer later in the week when I'm there.

Great looking fish, congrats!!

Badflies 04-02-2012 12:29 PM

Nice ones!

Way to go! That looks like a great day on the water. Where you buys using leech imitators or the family secret?

npauls 04-02-2012 12:54 PM

We chucked all kinds of flies and everything caught fish.

The typical still water patterns should do the trick.

Pudelpointer 04-02-2012 01:13 PM

Looks like some of the 3N fish are starting to get big, and a few old stock still around.

bobalong 04-02-2012 08:07 PM

Nice fish, glad to see there are still some big ones in there.

sportster 04-02-2012 08:35 PM

rainbows

looks like you got into some nice ones. I too was there at sunrise getting rained on. first fish to hand was a 22" beauty then was surrounded by a lot of little guys, some in the 10" range. then unfortunately had leave for other commitments.

goldscud 04-02-2012 08:41 PM

So what are the size classes that you guys saw: 10",____,____,____,22",____?

Daceminnow 04-02-2012 10:02 PM

very nice. wind had that water churned up real good. sweet waves for a leech under a bobber. what have you got to say about the wind warrior nate? i'd say it was a windy enough day for a review.

That wind warrior did what the name states. It pounded the bugs through the wind quite a bit better then I had expected.

If we get out for a trip sometime you will have to give it a rip and see what you think.

The water is always stained out there and it wasn't actually all to bad for visibility. The pictures make it look way worse then it was.

The 3 big fish I posted pictures of were all around the 24-25" range according to my measure net. We also had some in the 18-22" range and the rest were 14-16" from what I can remember.

Windy or not, that's a sweet way to spend a day. Noice feesh!
