Trout lakes around Edmonton (gas powered boat)
Hey, I was wondering if there were any trout lakes around Edmonton that allowed gas powered boats that aren't too small? Anything closer than Carson or is that probably the closest one that is a decent size?
Thanks, |
Nope..All are Electric only..Carson is the closest of size, Dolberg but a very small lake, West- Abraham, Fairfax, Obed maybe?

Thanks that's what I was thinking, oh well we ended up going to Pigeon and catching about 40 in 3 hours.

What is the exact ruling on the electric motor only lakes. If you have a gas outboard on it can you just put it all the way up and disconnect gas and not have the tank in the boat?
Or is it 100 percent that if your boat has a gas motor you arent allowed on the lake period? |
If you have a gas motor mounted, whether it is in the water or not, whether fuel tank in the boat or not, will not be allowed on a public electric only lake.
That's from experience. |

The law is written such that it is illegal to use not have a gas motor on boat. The grey area becomes does a guy just have a gas motor or was he using it or planning to use it. Expect people to call you in and to get checked. My opinion is have the leg up out of the water, garbage bag duct taped around leg and no gas on board so motor is obviously inoperable. If you do this I don’t see how you could be charged.

Is this how the law is written for the parks too (Jasper/Banff) or is it different there? I've always been told that you can't physically have a gas motor on the boat there, which I assumed was to protect the water from gas/oil leakage.
