Fishing at gull lake ?

Hey guys , I'm just heading up for an alberta wide fishing tour and was wondering how the fishing was at gull lake ? Thanks

livefortherut 06-27-2013 02:25 PM

The jack are indeed pretty active on Gull. Not particularly hard to catch them. Plenty of whites there too. Good luck!

Would there be any point trying to fish by the brewers campground. I will have my son and a canoe so can go far but would be nice to wet a line. Any suggestions for anything close to the campgrounds?

Is there any place in gull lake that I can fish by the shore ? My boat broke and so I have no way to get into deep water

MikeGuo 07-14-2013 10:35 PM

is it even possible to catch whites in the summer in this lake?

fishermansfriend 07-14-2013 11:40 PM

whites can be caught so can burbs and big wally... if you cant catch a pike your not looking in the right spots theyre the easiest to find.

Has anyone fished at Meridian Beach? Someone said there was shore fishing there

TKM 07-16-2013 01:18 PM

I fish there every weekend as we have a trailer.

Pike- are in incredibly shallow water and are ferocious like gators. We catch 5-6 every weekend, keep some for lunch and release the rest.

Whitefish- like the shallows but are just as finicky in summer as they are for ice fishing. I haven't bothered with them yet this summer.

Walleye- I caught a big beauty in about 5 feet of water this past Saturday, a hint for you is that they are twilight feeders on dark colors.

BTW, this is alll shore fishing. The boat's coming out next weekend!

Trolled today from noon to 6.
16 pike the boat all keeper size or better.
Kept 2 for supper.

Had 3 Walleye as well in the 2.5-4# range. They of course went back.

I consistently catch 'em in 12-14 FOW on clown pattern raps running 6'-8' down @3-3.5mph.

Why help this tool out?? This OP is the same reject that had the Lac la Biche 18 lb walleye and monster pike that turned out to be just random cropped pics from other people's Facebook pages. L

LOSER!!

no kidding why isnt this guy banned from posting i cant stand liars we dont need that kind of posts

jzz30tt 07-18-2013 03:08 PM

Haha, it's the lowest effort type of fishing there is. You've heard of bench racing? FishingZach has introduced us to bench fishing.

Reality doesn't matter! If you can dream it, you can fish it!

More toolbag than a trip to Lowes.

Yup. It's pretty easy to bust me for any tall tales, seeing how I make my living writing & taking pictures for my website haha! All you have to do is check my Instagram or website, you'll see tons of weekend pics of dock fishing. The boats been under repair for a few weeks now.

I'm actually working on an article now about shore/dock fishing with kids, being boatless forced my hand ;)
