Taxidermist issues

i not so recently dropped off my first ever beat at Owl River Taxidermy. Here I am a year and a half later and can't get so much as a phone call returned. I know this can't be normal and was just wondering if anyone has ever had any luck dealing with situations like this.

Time frame is one thing, not returning calls is another. Maybe time for a face to face

X2 I have averaged a 2 year wait for most of my stuff. But I have always been able to get ahold of him during that time.

happyhunter2000 06-20-2015 09:08 PM

I tried the face to face, along with an email and numerous phone calls. Went to the house and knocked three times now .. No answer even though there were vehicles in the driveway. Even left a note on the door. Can't help but feeling that I'm out a deposit and a bear mount.

Weird.
You have an invoice/receipt? One last email or message warning then file a report, it's theft.

kujoseto 06-20-2015 09:25 PM

That doesn't sound very promising. Sorry to hear it. Hopefully everything works out.
Just putting it out there, because stranger things have happened...maybe the guy passed away. Or is hospitalized

I know she is still around and as recently as 5 months ago still taking in animals. I think I'm gonna go with shooter on this one. Final warning tomorrow then call the authorities. Never thought of it that way but it makes perfect sense. Thanks folks. On a side note... Anyone know of a good DEPENDABLE taxidermist north of Edmonton. I'm in the Lac La Biche area.

I tried to contact her about doing an animal for me about 2 months ago. I could not find a number for her at all. All her ad's, website and old # are no where to found.

I'd be doing more than just calling if I was you.

Report to F and W.

Get ahold of f and w. Then go get your bear and give it to a real taxidermist. Scum like this pizz me off.

Sorry to hear your tale. Losing a deposit is one thing, but losing your hunting trophy/memories is priceless.
Whatever the outcome, I'd suggest you check out some of the taxidermist who sponsor on this forum. You might have to drive a bit, but these fellows are reputable and all their work is outstanding. The time and cost will be worth it.
Good luck with your current situation.

Show up with F&W.

gramps73 06-21-2015 08:27 PM

That sucks for sure, never know what is happening behind someone eles door..
Good luck in getting your animal back.

I got my bear done at Bruins Den Taxidermy, guys name is Bruce and he did an awsome job on my bear. He is located just west of Cold Lake by Riverhurst, I would certainly recommend him.

Yep , Bruce at Bruins den is top notch . He has done all my taxidermy for last few years . Very down to earth guy .
