Checked out a new spot for a couple hours today on the NSR, watched 4 sturgeon roll including a huge one, landed one and lost another a few feet from shore :(

Was also fishing alone so this is the only pic I bothered to take of my first one as I didn't want to handle it too much.

Nice Fish, great picture, and to think you almost decided to sleep in.

Thank you for sharing

wags 05-10-2014 11:49 AM

waterninja 05-10-2014 04:18 PM

ineptflux 05-10-2014 11:51 PM

The morning when I was out was beauty until the wind picked up at 8:30am.

I just love being on that river at all times!

Got another tonight - it actually put up a good fight that left me quite tired afterwards, lol

plus a bait stealing walleye, and about 20 hits with no follow ups.

This one had some of it's spot still too! At first I thought it was a sauger :O :bad_boys_20:

Lund rebel 05-13-2014 06:02 AM

Good job, I went and sat on the river bank for 4 hours without a bite last night tried different baits, different size of rigs, different spots but nothing. At least the old lady only had 1 bite about 2 mins in and she lost it.

ineptflux 05-13-2014 06:29 AM

Canadian Badass caught 2 as well where we were, one was the one I caught the day before that he just tagged lol.

WayneChristie 05-13-2014 09:28 AM

nice dinos :sHa_shakeshout: I caught a 53 incher Friday afternoon and then caught the same fish the next morning 1/2 mile downstream right at my trailer.

Nice work ineptflux. It's crazy how many of them there are in N. Sask. Any advice on landing one? I only ever catch walleye and goldeye.

ineptflux 05-13-2014 11:26 PM

Another one tonight that unhooked itself at shore so I didn't have to sink in the mud again lol, plus a little kid beside me got a decent one too

Deep very slow moving water, and fish the bottom - gold eye can be quite the nuisance lol. Your best bet is to hike the river and put in time locating pockets, I usually stick around when I find rock less bottoms and the odd suckers hah.

Yeah I read that on FB. My first sturgeon on Saturday was a bit over 50 for sure but my tape was up on the bank and I was shaking too much with adrenalin to think to even measure. Most of the other ones lately are all around 74-100 ish cms. CBA got a 116cm yesterday as well.

Wayne, I'm so hooked! :sHa_shakeshout:

That's a good spot you guys are fishing, always pays off, especially in the spring. Just hate dealing with the mud down there, hence the reason I bought a jet boat!

ineptflux 05-14-2014 07:50 AM

Haha was that you that whipped by yesterday in the evening?

gnugen 05-14-2014 08:03 AM

Thanks! Appreciate it.

Nope, not last night. Haven't been out that way yet this year. I've been exploring a couple new areas. Might be out that way this weekend if I don't go bear hunting.

GF landed her first sturgeon yesterday :)

Teamprotz 05-15-2014 07:11 AM

Nothing stopping you now ! Might need to try my other spot but not sure I want to get that muddy !

ineptflux 05-15-2014 07:40 AM

The best places so far have been the muddiest - I love it!

Lund rebel 05-15-2014 07:47 AM

Your killing me here, so what your saying is find the muddiest spot I can and fish the crap out of it:angry3:. It might be easier to just track your IP address and find out where you live and follow you around :test:.

Well I am on lake fishing for the next few days but I'll have to spend the weekend walking the river banks. Wishing I kept my little mud boat I had

ineptflux 05-15-2014 08:35 AM

Slow moving water too, preferably back eddies

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Lye is getting pricy these days.

ineptflux 05-15-2014 11:20 PM

Those last 2 pics are 2 totally different spots.

100s of hrs + of hiking and scouting goes into finding spots like these, so you can see why they're not given up very easily.

e40water12 05-16-2014 07:47 AM

awesome pic's thanks for sharing :)
