Fire

Had a lightning strike hit my shed last night. Worst part is the 2 old model 30 jiffy models that were destroyed. Also lost one 4 man tent, 3 single man tents, several rods and tip ups and pretty much all my ice fishing gear. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...07b013099d.jpg

That’s awful! Sorry to hear about losing your gear but thank goodness no one was hurt by the fire!

good lord glad you are ok, sorry to hear about your fishing gear man. hope your insurance covers it maybe?

trophyhunter 06-07-2020 07:34 AM

What are the chances?! Glad no one was hurt...makes me wonder how many of us outdoorsmen have all our gear documented and have a reasonable deductible.

Glad nobody got hurt and damage didn’t spread beyond that! That sucks though, sorry for the loss of your equipment. Good reminder to me though. Going to tell the wife today the sewing machine and treadmill are going to the shed and the auger and rods are coming in the house!

sorry to hear that, one of my spruce got hit Friday night but they get hit regularly, they all have multiple tops except the one whose top got blown off. I just lost power not anything else fortunately. hopefully your house insurance helps.

That's crazy.
I would have assumed the lightning would have gone for a tree, or your house, or anything that stood up taller than your shed.
It's a good thing no one was back there at the time.

I know you spend a lot of fishing time with your rugrats, if you arent covered I would be quite happy to put up one of my fish sculptures for auction here to donate to new gear. I know what sort of man you are, and you have helped me out before so I would be happy to help.

Thanks for the consideration. Sounds like the insurance will cover the contents. We will have to replace the stuff otherwise they give depreciated value. I don’t think the old jiffys are worth as much to them as they are to me.

Can’t make that up, jeez, hope you bought a lotto ticket!

pikeman06 06-07-2020 05:32 PM

Surprised the ol jiffies didn't strike back. I guess they are bullet proof not lightning proof...sorry Bout your bad luck and glad you and yours are alrite. I got an old jiffy 30 you can have. The clutches slip a bit when it bites hard in the ice but it'll drill you a hole when you need one. Camrose area pm me if ya want.

Couleestalker 06-07-2020 05:36 PM

Thanks to everyone that has offered me their extra augers. Insurance will buy me news ones so I cannot in good conscious accept these and then receive insurance payout.
