Devil's lake/onoway
 

Hey all. Was going to take my nephews out for their first ever ice fishing trip. Was thinking Devil's cause it's close and don't know how long the boys will want to stay out there.
Just looking for info on ice conditions/flood water or how the fishings been. It's been kind of hit and miss the last few times I've been out there.

Any info would be great.

I'd maybe go to Hasse if it's their first time out. I hear the perch there are biting quite well. They're not really big but at least they have a good chance at catching something :)

I second mudbug's motion. Hasse should provide lots of fun for the youg'uns. Maybe not tons of fun - more like ounces of fun. :) Great time despite size.

Morinville Resevoir aka Heritage lake has the same type of perch action.

Is this the one beside the highway with the rv park on one side?? If so were is a good spot on that pond to fish?

Yes I prefer to the right of the boat launch which is on side of the RV park. Take the access road straight to the boat launch and start punching holes. The perch there do have little cysts though.

You've got a chance at trout there as well...though I don't think you're allowed to keep the perch if I remember correctly.

That one is really snowed in right now as well and parking would be on the road. Hasse is your best bet for parking and lake access right now, I drove by both of them last weekend. Plus Hasse has outhouse availabilty which can be a bonus with kids :)
