Lever action pistol ammo rifles
I'm considering purchasing a lever action rifle chambered for one of the pistol rounds (.357, .44). I would be interested in hearing about any experiences with the different models out there.

old marlins in 357 and 44 have treated me well. haven't had time to wring out my new 41, maybe today, lee

Fun fun fun.
Had and sold an older 1894 Marlin in 44 mag, should never have sold it. Shot white box Winchester 240's fantastic. Reloaded 265gr. Jfp's and 4227 were doubly fun and accurate. One buddy has a 94 Winchester trapper in 38/357, shoots great, 158gr. Cast 38's are insanely fun, while 158gr. XTP's in the 357 are pretty awesome on 60yd deer. |
Have a M92 TD in 38/40. Not really a pistol cartridge as much as a throwback to when cowboys used the same in rifle and pistol. New Japanese manufactor and its a real sweetheart. Be one of the last of mine to ever go...

1894 in .44 was exactly what I was considering. So no major feed or accuracy problems then? If I read the ballistics sights right those are point blank out to about 50 yards how's the accuracy beyond that? Up until now most of my shooting has been with more streamlined bullets.

50 yds pffft what sort of lousy shot are you! Real men shoot way further these days, close range stuff is for sissy's! |
I have a Henry Big Boy in 44 mag, it's a ton of fun to shoot. I put a Skinner peep sight on it. Action is super smooth and fit and finish is great.

I had a Marlin Cowboy 1894 in .357 mag....one of the nicest shooting carbines i ever had, deadly out to 100 meters...one of those that got away unfortunately, some lucky fellow in Calgary now has it....would by another one in a heartbeat

Have a Rossi Ranch Hand in 357, fun to play with and great for out in the woods. Lots of guys use them for "quad guns"....short length is better than a full size gun case on the handlebars snagging on everything.

What's the difference if it's a 44 mag at 200 or a 7 mag at 900? I saw it on tv, you wouldn't want to bad mouth those guys would ya? |

Just as bad as a 80 yrd. archery shot or a 300 yrd muzzleloader shot.
Capable, Yes, ethical, No. I own two lever guns and have taken animals with them and they worked very well. Nothing shot over 75 yrds. though. Oh ya. You don't DICK! I've seen him do it. |

Now lets call irony meets sarcasm a draw and you can tell me what if any problems you ever had with your 1894. |
I've got a Marlin 1894 assault rifle in 44mag. Picked it up this spring, put a skinner sight on it, and replaced the firing pin. Happy, happy, happy.
