Opinions on minox optics

Can anyone shed any light on the quality of minox optics?

Just wondering if they are worth the $.

Thanks,

Brad

Some very mixed reviews out there, I returned the one I had. Mail ordered from cabelas. The objective lens looked like it had been glued in by a drunk 4yr old. Looking thru it I couldnt see the glue, but for that level of scope I didn't find it acceptable. I've read a couple reviews on the front lens coming loose. If they have solved the assembly issues I'd defiantly buy another.

On the flip side it's been the finest hunting scope I've looked thru. I compared it to a zeiss conquest, and a vx3. The minox was the brigtest, with the easiest to see reticle looking against bush in the early am when I tested them.

Haven't field tested any but optical comparisons put the 5-20 ahead of: Nightforce 5.5-22x56, Weaver Super Slam 5-20x50, but behind the Vortex Razor 5-20x50($2100) scope. I think they are worth further evaluation. Assembly is supposedly in the USA. Certainly every manufacturer has errors. The real problem lies in the issues when they go unresolved. Sort of like the Leupold VX II scopes (vari x II etc.) and Leupolds inability to ensure uniform torque on a scope power ring which has been around in varying forms since the 60s or earlier...now that says a lot about the company (all negative of course).

I have a 5-20x50 on my .222 and it is a very bright scope. Tracks very well-when you click to move 1 inch it moves 1 inch. Thin cross hairs on the bdc model as i bought it for prairie dog shooting so i wanted thin cross hairs. Watch for sales as it was $729regular price but bought 2 of them when cabelas had them on sale for $589. Also side parallex is a must for anything over 10x and these scopes adjust nicely.

Agree on Cabelas sale prices.

One other thing to note is their excellent eye relief.

It's likely going on a 6mm so the target relief isn't a huge concern.

But I did read a couple of really negative reviews on gun nutz. Does anyone no who the canadian rep for minox is. The warranty card at cabelas said new hampshire I think.

I've put one on my sheep rifle.
Optical performance is excellent, up there with Zeiss Conquest.

I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability.
