Castor, sac oil, corn oil, mixed in blender. Corn oil acts like glycerin and prevents freezing and puts a good slick on the water.

beaver lure

I just use the castor shells, cut in half and thrown up on the bank behind my trap, or hung on a branch with string. Add another piece after a rain.

Hang oil sac for three days. Poke hole in bottom of sac and squeeze oil out into a bottle. That’s all I use and catch a few hundred every year. Use this all year long working damage control for county.

I take a bunch of small, empty castors and cut them in small pieces. Then I throw them in a blender and add glycerin until I get the right consistency. Before I set my trap I splash water on the bank to get it wet and I might put a handful of mud there. Then I scoop some castor on the end of a stick and stick it in hanging over the mud. That way anything that drips off, drips onto the mud. It works great and I haven’t had a reason to add anything to the castor/glycerin mix.
