Fishing geeks will be annoyed. They have big egos according to a guy that has talked with them.

Have never noticed any ego with the geeks they are good at what they do which seem to annoy other people but they are always willing to help out with good advice and some tricks.
Not sure who you talked to but I would say he may be a little jealous.

I would think that would be a new Canadian and world record for Burbot, and from Alberta no less.

I have spoken with Sean a number of times and would not think he would be annoyed at all by someone else's success. I also never not got the impression he had a big ego at all.

X3.

I've never noticed an ego with either of them, quite the opposite actually.

They're both great guys, passionate fisherman, and more than willing to help out others.

Finnally!! I heard about this new record breaking fish back in March and have a picture of it and the fellow who caught it. I didn't have permission to post the pic then, and don't have permission now either, but I am glad that it has been officialy announced. I was beginning to wonder if it was some kind of hoax.
As for Mr. Konrad, I'm sure nobody would like to have thier record bested, but I'm sure that he will be a good sport about it and will be congratulating new record holder.

It is true the 25 lb 3 oz Burbot is real because i was the one who caught it. I caught it on a #4 yellow and black diamond Len Thompson hook. It was caught out of peerless lake by Red Earth, Alberta. Also have included a photo of me holding the Burbot.

BuckMaster101 08-21-2017 04:50 PM

burbot

congrats, that's a monster.

Sooner 08-21-2017 04:51 PM

Wicked Burbot. Congrats. Did it give a good fight?

Years back on Peerless, I hooked a dead one off the bottom while trying to catch early Lakers in May. We guessed it to be over 10 lbs. That one your holding dwarfs the dead one I snagged. Thanks for posting the pic.

That's a lot of fish & chips! :)

ETA - I assume you were jigging a #4? Never considered that as an option. Interesting choice.

Great fish! Congrats!

The biggest one I pulled out was 5.7 kilos. I was happy with that one, but this is on the whole different level. Good job!

burbotman 08-21-2017 06:18 PM

Congrats on that monster. What a head on that beast!!!

That may be the most impressive fresh water fish I have ever seen a pic of

What was the length on it?

58thecat 08-21-2017 06:22 PM

Hauled it out with the Honda ...what a beast!

Pretty sure he wasn't trolling, as I may be right now. 😜
