Can bull elk still be called in the first week of October?
 

Heading up north for a moose hunt the first week of October and wondering. If we get the moose tag filled will bull elk still come into calls.

They can still be called in even in November but not as aggressive as in September. Probably more of a mild interest still dreaming about girls/cow elk he missed during rut.

I have found it depends on the hunting pressure. The more pressure, the more I find they completely shut down

Last few years where I hunt, the first two weeks of October were the most vocal for me. Definitely depends on pressure as well. Elk in September might not be vocal or come in to calls if they are over pressured. good luck on your hunt.

Thanks headed up to 521 on some private land and have an antlered moose draw but will also be looking for elk.
