Fly & Spey Reel Backing

Just curious what everyone else is using. I just switched all of the backing on my reels to Pro Line #30 Braided and Tuff Line #50 Braided. I was easily able to get 300 yds on my steelhead spey reel. For those steelheaders out there, you know there's that one fish per trip that likes to find out how much backing you have.
What are you using?

Not pro line, it's "power pro"

This stuff.

Been using Pro Line also for the last couple of years, takes up almost no space for a nice amount of backing without bulk. mind you my small stream reels have no backing. Don't need it only my big fish reels

Ya, i only use 50-75 yds on the 3 wt stuff. on 4,5 &6 weights there's about 100yds.
I tend to use smaller reels on my single handers. Makes casting for 8-12 hours easier.

I really like dacron. I have 100 yards on my Skagit setup and 80 yards on my 5W.

Is it a trout set up? or for steelhead/salmon? I learned a tough lesson once and i had 150yds on my spey reel. The steelhead had all of my line gone in 30 seconds. Lost everything

Just a general spey for Alberta. Don't worry, I would be cautious using it for steelhead

I have spooled Royal Wulff oval backing 30lb on a few reels.

It lays pretty flat and I get more on the spool than regular round backing.

Has anyone tried hollow braided line and done the finger trap trick to get a no knot connection from the backing to the fly line?
