Start asking garages what they do with their lead wheel weights. Seem places will give you loads for free, some will ask for a little.

I needed lead last year for decoy anchors and had a super hard time finding any. Most garages sell it to special companies for top dollar. I really did find a good source. If you do I would be interested in where.

Many years ago I bought 500 lbs from Western Metals when I didn't have time to mess with sourcing lead;

If auto body shops still use lead for repairs, try a place like Aklands or Greggs. But I would say tire shops for sure.

sheet lead is used in flashings on commercial roof penetrations (20x20", 24x24, 30x30) about 1/8" thick.
probably more expensive than wheel weights but its clean and you can cut it with snips in strips as big as you need to melt down
so head to local plumbing wholesaler or local plumber (they are really good people) and ask if the can get you a supply, costs

scrap guys get it in pretty regularly as well. Lead pipes, flashings, all kinds of stuff.

I just bought some here in Regina, got 50# for 30$

I have about 100 lbs of wheel weights I picked up from a tire shop.

Maybe try a small town tire shop not to far from where you live. They might have a few buckets of weights sitting around.

The place I received mine from said I could come grab more whenever I wanted.

I will be using mine to pour jig heads whenever I can get all the gear together to do so.

Be sure you know the environmental laws on casting lead. A few years back (can't find the article) someone was making fishing weights in the garage with old wheel weights, and got charged.
