Good day of ice fishing at Clear Lake

Caught 7 or 8 pike in total. One was 16 pounds, the other was 21 pounds. The ice was ~21 inches so we could drive on. Really windy and a bit cold, but besides that, it couldn't of gone any better. :sHa_shakeshout:

Sweet day.
Did you get a chance to measure the 16 and 21 lb -ers for length? Wondering approx how heavy a 100cm minimum size pike might be at Clear? |
Did u keep or release? Nice fish

Omega usually from my experience a 16lb pike is about 40 inches with a 16-17 inch girth. Or 38-39 inch with a 20-21 girth .The 21lb should be 42-45 inch depending on girth

There is in fact an math equation for determining the length or weight of a pike. So if the weight is 21lb, then the equation is Quote:

so hard to tell by weight alone.
from the fish I've measured its all over the place 26 lbs @ 45" 26 lbs @ 39" 14 lbs @ 43" |
Thanks for the answers.
I am still in the weeds with Mrs Omega for a 14 lb-er that she caught off the dock the last year the dock was still made of wood. I put it on a chain stringer and lowered it in- It swirled and bent the loop straight. Goodbye fish That was before the 100cm restriction and I never measured it for length so I was curious. It would be helpful if I could tell her that it wouldn't even be a keeper these days:sHa_shakeshout: |
Sorry, the 21lb was actually 22.6lb (which is 112.5cm)

Wow a 26lb 39 incher would need a girth of 25 inches plus.. fat piggie and the 43inches that was 14lb would have about a 10 inch girth. Weird fish. . Got any pics..?
