Was out there a few weeks ago and the ice was good, anywhere from 6 to 10”. I found the water clarity a bit off, same as mcgregor the other day. Past about 8’ deep I couldn’t see bottom. It was slower then usual at crawling, two pike during the day and missed two on the tip ups. Then as the sun went down I got a couple walleye

I had some friends out there on sunday. There was probably 10-12". I have some friends going there Friday. I will ask what the thickness is.

A buddy was out yesterday, Dec 28 and they had 12 pike on the ice, lost 4 at the holes; in 5 hours.

Ice is 14" thick....

He didn't say where on the lake they were?

12 pike “on the ice” ??? Hopefully you meant caught and released otherwise as the regs state 0 for NRPK for limits.

Do you think there will be any snow on the ice with this melt? Or should I bring my skates this weekend?

Sharpie 01-03-2019 01:49 PM

Skates for sure, and you can beat all your buddies to their tip-ups.

A buddy was out yesterday (Jan 04) and it was nice; watching yer footing was a concern...pretty smooth.

He put over a dozen pike and one walleye on the; approx. 14" ice...
One pike was an easy 36 or 37 inches... It was long but not thick.

Lost 6 at the hole.

Fun day....

PS:...all CR... :love0025:

I am told yesterday, yes; the sides for sure but no comments in the middle. A few test holes will put you at ease..... And please let us know?

I'm sitting on 14" of clear ice and about 2" of crust in the marina. Saw some tail lights heading across the lake when I pulled in this morning.

Where I was I'd guess there was a good foot of ice maybe more. Good fishing caught a couple whites and three eyes, unfortunately, no pike.

was there yesterday 400yrs straight off the launch. 16 inches of black.

I’m not sure how active they’ll be now, I’m guessing they might be quite a bit harder to find compared to a month from now.
I’ve only caught one there, was in 16 FOW, on a crankbait with minnow. Probably around midnight.
I’ve seen them in the shallows off the point of the campsite, immediately north of the marina entrance, in the summer.

We were out today....

I measured 18" of ice and several guys were driving on it, including us.

Caught 3 Walleye and 21 pike and the biggest pike was 28" and very thick.

Using shiners.....

No wind, no clouds the sun shone all day; very nice and had a great day.

graybeard 01-22-2019 05:20 PM

Out yesterday the 21st.....slow day (7).....the ice was 20" ....

I was out that day too... was super slow.

Poppa 01-22-2019 07:57 PM

We were out Sunday, in the south end, on the left side... Had rods set up everywhere from 10-18 FOW and never had a bite. Saw a few on camera and had a few chasers on the Bird, but zero bites.

Do people fish more at the north end or south end of the lake? We launched at the campsite and didn't go TOO far...

I’d guess most fish south. I mostly go north, but only because I like seclusion. I’m starting to wonder if by the dam is likely better because of possibly warmer water.

Either way, the fish don’t swim from one end to the other, and I highly doubt the action would be any different at either end.

It was slow for me as well on Monday. 2 pike and caught the same Walleye 3 times with hours in between. I drilled tons of holes looking for them but only seen one pike in half a km of holes.

I guess they all can’t be great days. And put one down for the moons lack of effect. Super Moon pfft.

graybeard 02-16-2019 07:48 AM

Ice must be nearing +30" since this cold snap began...?

Has anyone been out recently....Brrrrr

Brovacs 02-19-2019 08:47 AM

Was out last Thursday and was fishing by the dam and then in the islands and the ice was 27". Fishing was super slow and we only got 1 pike right first thing in the morning. Drilled holes from 8ft-29ft and marked very few fish.
