Rem 700 Action Screws

So I have ordered a Remington 700 barreled action in 6.5 creedmore, with a 24'' threaded HB.
Im going to pick up a temporary stock until mine arrives
Its a hogue over moulded stock. Factory on the rem 700 tactical AAC
My question is about action screws
From what I can tell they are
Front: 1/4''-28x 1.375
Rear: 1/4''-28 x 1.906
Center: 8-36 x 1.875

Im going with Oem bottom metal for now
Are these the right sizes? ( I think they are)
And would Edmonton Nut and Bolt have these?
I found what I think is the right set, but its in the states.
Any Ideas?

Appreciate it!

I bought the same thing, let me know if you find a set that works. I remember seeing some guy on CGN selling the action screws for about $5 shipped but I can't currently find it.

I was told Home depot lol
I highly doubt that but Im wondering if Edmonton nut and bolt would?
Its a common thread. And as long as they are long enough... I can always trim them to length
Even if the head is a bit different. Ive saw replacements that are torx

Edm Nut & Bolt will likely not have any 1/4" with a countersink head...I use these socket head bolts and they seem to work fine. Get them a little long and cut them to length with your dremel cut off.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4221e0110d.jpg

Yes. This!!!
Thank you
Did my sizes look right?

260 Rem 09-19-2017 09:25 PM

I'm not good on "sizes" ... think those are just 1/4" standard fine thread...they fit the 700 action. Is there another screw in the center of the action you are getting?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...12da3e9ec2.jpg

Im not sure?
All the sites, and even Remington list 3 different screws
I would of guessed there are only 2?
But those are the 3 that come up as the set
Is there a 3rd??

SlightlyDistracting 09-19-2017 09:47 PM

That picture is the money shot. Thank you for that
Id really like to find two bolts like those black ones in your picture

The third screw goes through the front of the trigger guard on the ADL model. It is a smaller diameter screw.

Thank you sir.
im going to get the 3 sizes in those black torx or allen bolts. I thing those will look pretty good.

According to the Remington website, it looks like there is a small bushing in there too.

I just picked some up from western gun parts in Edmonton for a similar set up, they will get you the correct ones

If you go that route, be sure to get the proper length...some aftermarket stocks and bottom metal result in differences.

Because I bed my actions, the factory screws sometimes only engaged the action by a thread or so. The screw sets from Brownells are slightly longer, and I just shorten them as required.

Gitrdun made me a couple when he bedded my R700 in a Bell & Carlson stock.

spentround 09-20-2017 09:37 PM

Ebay is a good source...many times.

SlightlyDistracting 09-20-2017 09:47 PM

I went to Nisku Nut and Bolt
Got the black allen key style in various lengths. I dont mind how they look at all. I got 12 for $3

I may switch to OEM screws at some point but Ill way till my stock comes in
I picked up a Hogue overmolded stock off Kijiji for $30 :sHa_shakeshout:
Its actually not a bad stock, its never been used and will do nicely until I get mine

260 Rem 09-20-2017 10:16 PM

If I recall correctly, the "regular" Rem action screws are about $8.00 each if purchased locally. I presume the Hoque you got does not have an alum bedding block, in which case will benefit from some epoxy bedding...and just may work really well.

No it does not, and yes I believe you are right
We have epoxys at work that are crazy. ( autobody)
I already had plans to do just that
I may even add some weight to the stock when I epoxy it.
Its going to be used for pretty much shooting off a bench, so I want heavy.

SlightlyDistracting 09-20-2017 10:26 PM

Only thing left is bottom metal and magazine.
I phoned western, they are fully stocked
Thats tomorrows project.

SlightlyDistracting 09-21-2017 05:44 PM

So I called Western Gun Parts (again) this time with part numbers
I was going to buy the bottom metal DM and Magazine, plus 6 or so action screws. I found the Remington part numbers exactly as they had asked for. When I called today I spoke to some guy who really didnt want to help or confirm availability. I told him I had the exact part numbers and names. He kinda mumbled and said the part numbers arent right, which I have confirmed they are. He honestly sounded like he did not want to sell me the parts. End the end he told me I was looking at $150+ for just the bottom metal without magazine, and it was even morel. I truly think he just made up those numbers. Wolverine list the both for $150. Im going to order from them. Try to support the local guy, but get ridiculous prices and horrible service??

Pathfinder76 09-21-2017 06:21 PM

If there is an easier firearms part to source than Remington 700 guard screws I'm not sure what it would be.

260 Rem 09-21-2017 06:38 PM

Just put a WTB in the "exchange" forum both here on AO and on CGN...I expect you will pay about half of what WGP lists. Lots of guys sell their take-offs when they upgrade to aftermarket bottom metal/mags.

Good advice. They come up quite regularly.
