Tailess Coyote

Just wondering if anyone knows how much a coyote not having much of a tail will affect its value.....the fur is good, but the thing is missing the majority of its tail. Thx

Nafa pelt manual says if the tail is completly gone it will be graded as a slight damage. Not sure how much tail is required to avoid that.

Tailless coyote

I've caught several coyote with only part of a tail. Doesn't make much difference in the price of the pelt.

Kind of a cool follow up to this.....i caught this one at a ladies property who had yotes stealing her chickens, as well as some at her friends place that lives nearby. Anyway, she texted me and asked if i got anything today on my check and i sent her a pic of this one.....turns out her friend actually saw a "coyote with a very short tail" inside her chicken pen stealing chickens a few months ago. I know its not the only yote missing a tail in the bush, but seems pretty likely that I managed to get a confirmed chicken snatcher :sHa_shakeshout:

I have had tail-less coyotes on the action and did not notice a price difference but I doubt you would get a select skin or top lot. On you average coyote I don't think you would see a price difference. I may be wrong!
