burbot help
Was at the lake yesterday, had Burbot coming up to my bait but would not bite, had glow Jig head with a soft smelt on there. Banged it on the ground, twitched, did it all. They just stared at it. Was thinking about going to PCR tonight but if I can't get them to bite then what's the point? Lol. Any idea what I was doing wrong?

I think if a burbot won't bite, it just isn't hungry. Not like a pike that you can mess with until they decide to teach the hook a lesson.

You will have better luck in Feb/March when they start spawning. Also they tend to be nocturnal so they might have been sluggish if it was daytime.

I find Levin it still works good cause I usually get them on my tip up and rarely on my hand line

sometimes if u can bump them with the hook they will get mad at it and eat it. otherwise i would leave it on the bottom cause sometimes they use the barbel under there chin to taste the food before they eat it. also tip-ups and set lines work good if u set them right on the ground. hope this helps.
