Old Weaver K series?

I have a vintage rifle I was planning to put a low power scope on, now I have a line on an old Weaver k 1.5x. The scope would look great on the rifle, and fit my needs fairly well. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these old scopes, would this be a good idea or should I just cough up the dough for a current 1-4x? Thanks.

These are great old scope , or were in their day. If you go with the newer 1x4, Let me know where the k 1.5 is.

Love them. I have a straight power K2.5 that needs a trip to Trace Scope repair for a rebuild...

I have Weaver K4 60 C scope. Purchased about 1968 listed on gunpost for $300.00.

Big fan of the weaver K scopes. New ones aren’t built quite the same but still tough dependable quality!

Weaver scope

Have a weaver k3 60b on a old marlin and it’s a tack driver!
It’s a very reliable scope.
Some people figure there worth hundreds of dollars but for those prices you can buy a modern scope that will run circles around the old weaver.

Look through an old scope in low light, then a new one. I loved the old original Redfeilds, but you put a 3x9 beside a modern Leupold 3x9 and the difference in clarity and light gathering is truly amazing. The very best glass of 30 or 40 years ago isn't as good as even mid range modern glass, though the old premium scopes will still be better built than mid range scopes of today. I would go with a new Leupold unless it is going to be a display piece.

I'd look for an older gloss Leupold 1-4. Be a good compromise between vintage and improved glass over the older Weaver.

I put one of the k6 weavers on my Remington Titanium .270win and love it. Back when the Titanium first came out in 2002 I put the k6 on as it was the lightest scope I could find. Shot my ram this year with that combo. It works good in low light as well as I shot the ram at 7 am. At 500 yrds.

I bought a K4W with post and crosshair from the old UFA store in downtown Red Deer for $50 way back in the mid seventies. I wouldn't ever sell it! And as for the light gathering of then and now, chances are good that if you can't see with an old Weaver your before/past legal light anyway. Put the old Weaver on and spend your money on a good quality Bino.

Me too. Bought a nice older scope from him at the gun show this year. Likely send my K2.5 to him after the season.
