Show me your favorite chironomid patterns

Growing up in bc I know to have a very special place in your flybox for these little guys, the biggest rainbow I ever caught was on my Chromie pattern with a red rib and either a black or red bead head!
Post your fav chironomid patterns

I like fishing chironimids and probably had best luck with the silver one and the segmented one (last two pics), with the exception of first ice off, when the blood worms get the nod.

I'll post some of my favorites once i can get my camera to focus on the itty bitty flies.

Jeremie,
when you're passionate about chronies there is nothing else I would rather talk about so bring on the queries!! UTC Small wire and XS on size 14 and smaller.

Awesome, im looking forward to giving the red back chromie a try on a certain saskatchewan lake over may long weekend.

My buddy (albertafisher) asked for me to whip him up some chironomids to get him started on the addiction. Here are my 4 most used colors, although, i have about 50 patterns, these are just to cover his bases.

This one is called the mountain dew snowcone and is of my own variation on the snowcone pattern.

This one is the summer duck pupae created

This one is my version of the deadly black and red combo, i just used came thread as the thorax

and finally, my all time most deadly pattern. Everyone who's fished chironies a lot knows this one. The CHROMIE

Couple More

Here are another few that i've been working on. For those that know, When you hit a chirony hatch head on theres nothing like it. It gets silly. Ive had days that people dont even believe me about. When they ask for proof, i always say i dont have any because whats the point in getting any... (On really good days) no one needs 50-100 different pictures..... :thinking-006:

I have fished many BC lakes when the hatch is on, and the large fish become quite selective. 4 or 5 basic patterns in multiple colors and sizes rapidly expands into boxes full of flies. There is a species on Ironside that is black on the tail and green on the thorax. Here is my web page on Chironomid patterns

X 1000!!
Great website Badger, really shed some light on the mystery of Chironie fishn for me.I've always been more of a skinny water flyfisher and pretty much limited my stillwater fishing to trolling streamers or casting dries to visible rises.I'll admit that until today,I've been somewhat intimidated by Chironie methods, with no real grasp of the life cycle or proper techniques to imitate, but with this newfound insight,I think maybe it's time to expand my horizons and give it a whirl.

I'm thinking I'm gonna have to print off some of this stuff for "on the lake reference" because to quote Bhflyfisher....."if you still have cell service, you haven't hiked far enough". ;)
