Redington red fly 2 question

I have a few setup since I started fly fishing 6 years ago, a few were fun and a few miss match weights.

I now picked up two rod and reel use once and he said maybe twice so I was happy about the deal, I found some reviews online and I'm wondering if anymore ever used a Redington red fly 2.

i got a 8,6 5 X and a 9 6 X

We've been busy home here in bc so I haven't gone out or anything so tell me so I can live through you lol

I had a 5wt when I was starting out. Pretty decent little rod. I would say it has a medium action with decent finishing touches on it.

Good inexpensive rod for someone starting out.

Never tried redfly but have a crosswater 6 weight and path 5 weight purchased used.
I've gotten good use out of both and they are okay rods.

The reel seat and cork grip on both rods are standing up better than the cheaper TFO's we have.

I've replaced some snakes guides on both and the "path" needs all new guides and tip top from line wear ( dirty line from bottom of boat and low quality guides) after two seasons.

They don't have as much backbone as same weight TFO but are just as forgiving.

For my money comparable to TFO.

I saw the price tag after\ward when I got home and together they were about 700 and some back then, and as new, cannot be happier, I paid 290.

These rods have a very slow action with not much backbone. I would think for dry fly fishing you will be fine. Once you start using a heavier streamer, or trying to fish in a good wind you will start to have some struggles. They will certainly get you some fish though
