Vudoo Rifles

Is anyone else using a Vudoo rifle? I picked mine up yesterday, and am hoping to shoot it in the next day or two. I purchased the Vudoo barreled action, a Grayboe Terrain stock, and the Trigger Tech Diamond trigger. I mounted the Zeiss HD-5 5-25x50 , and did a quick bore sight, and I am hoping to be able to zero at 50 yards and farther with the 30 minute rail. The trigger is set at 2lbs according to my gauge, but it feels lighter.

Why is the magazine so bulky for a 22lr?

The action and magazine are built to fit 700 short action stocks, and bottom metal. The extra magazine material is basically a spacer. It also uses a 700 trigger.

I purchased the barreled action and components from Insite Firearms, and although all of the barreled actions were sold when they arrived, one barreled action was ordered as a left hand action, but it came as a right hand action, so it was available a few days ago. The barrel on that one is carbon fiber, which adds about $500 to the cost, so over $3100 for a barreled action, then you still need to purchase a trigger, bottom metal and stock.

I’m sure that made some lefty’s day. Yikes.

Going to need to sell a lot of gopher pelts to justify that bad boy:). Interesting rig.

Dean2 05-08-2020 09:59 AM

Nice looking rig. That is some serious coin for a gopher gun, hope it lives up to its cost. Really looking forward to hearing how it shoots on targets and behaves in the gopher patch.

I sold Two Cooper rifles, and 16,000 rounds of 17mach2 ammunition, and after paying for the Vudoo, I am still more than the price of the Vudoo ahead of the game. And one more Anschutz , my range rimfire is being sold as well. I don't use the 22lr for varmints anymore, this is pretty much a plinking and range rifle.

Scope

Why Such high magnification for a 22 or was it just the only scope you had laying around?

I had the scope on my Anschutz target rifle, and this will be used on targets to 200m..

Holy Moses..never thought of a 22lr like that....we have a dedicated 22lr range at our gun club and when I briefly looked at it the other day I thought to myself that the farthest targets looked ridiculously far away but apparently not...lol

Thanks for the insight...

That’s it? A guy on long range hunting has shot his to 1000

elkhunter11 05-09-2020 02:12 PM

Despite the range being closed, and 30-40km gusts, I drove out to a friends place to shoot the Vudoo. A cardboard box with a couple of rocks to hold it in place in the wind, and my rest and bags on a trailer top, and the target at 50 yards. Using SK Standard Plus, I zero'd the scope, and fired these two groups. They measure .205", and.280", so average under 1/4". I was very pleased given the shooting conditions.

The city wants to actually see exactly how we are going to comply with the AHS operating conditions, so we had to remove some benches, make some signs, and now city hall is closed until Monday. We will get the signs finished and hung, take pictures of the modifications, and invite the city rep out to see our preparations, and hopefully, we are good to go early next week.

Range open today, but still very windy. Windy or not I shot at 50m, tested RWS and retested SK Standard Plus. It definitely prefers the SK Standard plus, although the RWS still shoots in the mid .3s at 50 m. Best group with the SK was .210" but one flier opened the other group to .340"

It was too windy, but I managed to get one 100m group under 1"

They are crazy accurate. I thought no production rimfire could beat an Anschutz. I was wrong. Never seen anything like it.

I got a 360 in January. Put it in a KRG X-ray chassis with an Athlon Cronus on top.
Haven’t had a good day to really wring it out yet. Shot it a bit in the cold.

Great article on Accurate Shooter [June 10-2019] of a 9 year old girl making hits at 1000 yds with her dads Vudoo. Night force 7 x 35 x 56 scope with a TARAC prism system.

Buckhead 03-25-2023 02:31 PM

I wonder how many thousands of rounds they sent before they got some hits.
Thats about 270 feet of bullet drop and 32' of wind correction in a 10 mph wind.

With the right optics and rail , it is not incinconceivable .
Many people scoff when I tell them i can accurately shoot my 22 match rifles offhand at 200 Meters until they see it done .

I'm not saying it's impossible. With the right optics, rail and a Charlie Tarac one can get dialed out to that range. But, the arc of a .22 bullet is going to be coming almost straight down at that range. Better have your DOPE dialed in perfect at every range in between before you get way out there.
I am decent offhand at 100m with a .22 and not bad out to 350m with some sort of rest or position. But at 1000 I'm not gonna just walk up and punch in a solution on my Kestrel and get hits. It just isn't happening.
